Brentford ensured they remained in the Championship play-off spots over the weekend as they battled from behind to seal a 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers at Griffin Park.

Thomas Frank's side had fallen behind courtesy of two goals from Blackburn attacker Adam Armstrong, but Brentford then produced an excellent second-half comeback which saw Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma level the scores against Rovers.

The result means Brentford are sitting fourth in the second-tier table heading into the final 12 games of the campaign, with the West London outfit now level on points with sixth-placed Preston and six points adrift of Leeds in second spot.

However, it could have been a lot worse for Frank's men who found themselves trailing 2-0 after 54 minutes following Armstrong's double, but Brentford's attack then breathed fresh life into the game as they netted twice in a nine-minute spell.

Watkins was the original architect of Brentford's hard-fought revival as he blasted home a 20-yard strike just after the hour-mark, with the prolific striker finding the net for the 21st in 33 appearances in the Championship this campaign.

Here, we take a closer look a Watkins' numbers from the clash...

Watkins has established himself as Brentford's first-choice striker this campaign and the frontman's prolific goalscoring record means he has started all 33 league games since the start of the term, and he once again played the full 90 minutes on Saturday.

The 24-year-old netted the goal which kick-started Brentford's second-half comeback against Rovers, and the former Exeter City man took his effort in style as he half-volleyed the ball into the top right-hand corner from the fringes of the box.

Watkins also registered a total of three shots on goal over the course of the match with this figure suggesting he was not afraid to test the goalkeeper, while also being selective with his opportunities to give his side the best chance of scoring.

This is what makes Watkins such an important player for Frank's side as he is not only extremely clinical in front of goal, but he is also an excellent team player and this saw him tee up two of his teammates for attempts on goal during the clash.

The Bees' talisman also registered nine touches in the box against Blackburn as he looked to create his side chances in the final third, while he also posted an impressive 96% passing accuracy which proves how well he links up with those around him.
