Sheffield United’s start to the Sky Bet Championship season has been hugely impressive, with Chris Wilder’s side surprising many by sitting inside the division’s play-off places after two months.

Things would have been even better for the Blades heading into last weekend’s international break, had Wilder’s side not slipped out of the top-two following a surprising defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The Blades deserved more from their performance in Nottingham, but will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend, when they face Ipswich Town at Bramall Lane.

Here at FLW, we look at the starting XI that Wilder might opt for as he looks to help his side maintain their magnificent start to the season.

Jamal Blackman is likely to continue in goal, behind a three-man defence, which sees Jack O’Connell and Cameron Carter-Vickers retain their place from the defeat to Nottingham Forest.

We believe Jake Wright should come back into that unit centrally, having only made the bench against Forest.

Wilder’s selection headache comes at right wing-back, with George Baldock out injured, and Kieron Freeman struggling in recent weeks with a rib injury. The former is out for the month, which will leave Wilder hoping Freeman is fit enough to start this weekend.

Paul Coutts is suspended for Saturday’s clash, so we have opted for a midfield trio of John Lundstram, Chris Basham and John Fleck, with Enda Stevens making up the midfield at left wing-back.

David Brooks’ emergence has been exciting to watch, but with the youngster spending the international break with Wales, we believe Wilder may opt to rest him and partner £900k-rated Billy Sharp with Clayton Donaldson.
