Bristol City remain with hopes of a top six place this season but it's safe to say they are not in the best form right now.

It's testament to how things went in the second half of 2017 that the club is still in touch with the play-off places because 2018 has been a real slog for the men from the West Country.

Even so, they can still turn it around in the last six games and earn a spot, though you feel as though that might start proving tough if it doesn't happen immediately.

They can still take heart from this campaign if they do not go up, though, and they should look to build if they do remain in the Championship with these signings to make sure they go up next season...

£900k-rated Barrie McKay is an exciting player with plenty to bring to a side in the Championship.

He started on fire at Forest this year after joining from Rangers but in the second half of the campaign he has dropped off and fallen out of favour under Aitor Karanka.

Could he be available then? There's surely a good chance and he'd likely fit into the Robins' exciting attack.

Adam Clayton continues to be a man you feel that Middlesbrough might just let go and if they do there's going to be plenty of clubs sniffing around.

He's the sort of talent you can build a side around and the Robins would surely be able to do that.

With his steel in midfield and the buzzing players in attack that they've got they'd look a real force.

Bailey Wright could perhaps do with some serious competition at right back and James Justin is the kind of player to provide that.

He's young and hungry and could play at a higher level than he does with Luton at the moment.

He'd not cost too much, either, and would be quick to want to earn himself a starting spot.

Woodman is a good young goalkeeper and he is impressing for Aberdeen right now.

It might be a bit soon for him to play in the Premier League for Newcastle but he's certainly capable of being a good second tier stopper and the Robins should consider a move.

Chris Martin is a proven goal-scorer at this level and could be the extra presence the Robins need up front to earn a top six place.

He could very well leave Derby County in the summer and so let's see if Lee Johnson and his men make a swoop for him.

There's certainly bigger risks out there.
