West Brom fell to a very disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace in the League Cup last night, after Darren Moore made major changes to his side.

That was understandable, with the Baggies priority this season undoubtedly to win promotion back to the Premier League.

However, Moore has a talented squad at his disposal and he will have been upset that those on the fringes failed to grasp this opportunity to push for a first-team place.

As our graphic shows, one of those who struggled was Hal Robson-Kanu, with the Wales international unable to get on the scoresheet in what was a frustrating night.

More worryingly was his overall performance though. The former Reading man didn't manage to make a meaningful impact on the game and couldn't link play or bring the midfielders into the game.

That resulted in the top-flight side dominating the game and they were ruthless in the final third, recording a comfortable victory in the end.

In fairness to Robson-Kanu, it was always going to be a tall order for him to convince Moore to hand him a start with Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez at the club.

The pair are arguaby the standout strikeforce in the division, which is why the 29-year-old has been used as a substitute for every game in the league since the opening day.

Yet, with Bakary Sako close to joining Albion, Robson-Kanu could find himself further down the pecking order in the weeks to come and his display last night won't have done him any favours.
