Sheffield Wednesday are gearing up for a busy old summer, both on and off the pitch.

The Owls are gearing up for a pivotal week as they look to secure their Championship status, but with plenty of work to do they're already putting plans in place for the transfer window.

The Yorkshire side have a number of high-profile players approaching the end of their contracts and with funds limited it could mean that a large number of them could be allowed to leave for nothing this summer - a situation that could be made worse if they do suffer relegation.

It could also mean that a number of new players could be coming into the club.

With that in mind here are NINE transfer developments that we could see emerge at Hillsborough this summer.

The forward is a player who is attracting plenty of interest this this summer.

Reports from Football Insider have claimed that a number of clubs are keen on a move for Josh Windass after an impressive campaign for Sheffield Wednesday.

A tally of 10 goals and 1o assists has made him one of the club's top performers and that's why it's no surprise that clubs are chasing his signature.

The 27-year-old's future could end up being decided by the club's battle to avoid relegation, but if they go down then it could be an interesting couple of months with interest building in the player.

A player who has endured a tough campaign at Hillsborough.

Injuries have stopped Jack Marriott from making any real impact at Sheffield Wednesday with the player failing to score in 13 first team appearances for the club.

But while his impact has been minimal it could be a decisive summer.

The striker is out of contract this summer and appears set to leave Derby County, meaning that the player has a decision to make over his future.

Whether a move back to Hillsborough could be on the cards remains to be seen - particularly if the club suffer relegation to League One.

It certainly seems that the writing is on the wall regarding Adam Reach's future.

The winger has been with the club for several years but with his contract winding down it seems that his days with Sheffield Wednesday could be numbered.

Football League World understand that Wednesday are resigned to losing the left-sided player on a free transfer, meaning that an exit is almost certain to be on the cards.

Reach has blown hot and cold during his time at Hillsborough, but I'm sure that supporters will be disappointed to see him moving on based on his ability to pull off the sublime on the his day.

A player who could prove to be a really shrewd addition.

Football League World understands that Jack Payne will be allowed to leave current club Swindon Town on a free transfer after the club were relegated from League One this term.

Portsmouth and Doncaster are keen on a move for the player and if the Owls do suffer relegation then he's exactly the sort of player who the club could be targeting.

The 26-year-old achieved 10 goal-involvements for Swindon this term, a tally which is decent considering the club's underperformance and perhaps this is a move that could take the fancy of Darren Moore this summer.

Another high-profile first team player who could be heading for the exit door.

Keiren Westwood has played around 200 times for Sheffield Wednesday and is certainly regarded as a club favourite, but perhaps the time has come for him to move on.

The goalkeeper is out of contract this summer and with the club looking to slash their wage bill, he could be a contender to move on.

With Joe Wildsmith likely to stay at the club, Westwood may well be allowed to move on and pursue another challenge in the EFL in a fresh start for both sides.

The forward is bound to be hot property this summer.

Callum Lang has been linked with a move to clubs such as Birmingham City and Coventry City after scoring 14 goals for Wigan Athletic in League One this term.

The Latics have preserved their spot in the third tier after a horrendous few years off the pitch, which admittedly, is a huge achievement in itself.

But with Lang performing so well there's a good chance that Sheffield Wednesday will be keeping track of how his situation develops over the coming months.

After all, he could be exactly the sort of player that the club need.

A player who seemed to have his future settled after penning a new contract with the club.

However it now seems that Barry Bannan's future with Sheffield Wednesday could still be in doubt if the club were to suffer relegation.

Football League World exclusively revealed that Brentford were considering a potential move for the midfielder if they fell short in their aspirations of securing promotion to the Premier League.

There's no doubt that Bannan is a quality player at Championship level and few would begrudge him a move if the Owls did suffer relegation.

Another player who Sheffield Wednesday should be watching very closely this summer.

The Leeds United midfielder has enjoyed a wonderful season out on loan with Oldham Athletic where he's scored 10 and created four goals for the League Two side.

At 21 years of age the player is still improving and could be looking for a bigger stage in which to showcase his talents.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds would be open to selling the player, but given Wednesday's situation they may well benefit from taking the player on loan as he provides a genuinely exciting presence from midfield.

Another player who looks increasingly likely to leave the club this summer.

Jordan Rhodes has endured a mixed time since moving to Sheffield Wednesday and looks set to move on at the end of the season.

In fairness to him, the striker has been a big player for the Owls in recent months after scoring six goals since the start of February - a tally which has certainly helped the club in their battle to avoid relegation.

However with the club facing a battle to stay up it may be the case that it's too little, too late in the striker's hopes of creating a legacy at Hillsborough.
