It could be a very busy summer for Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds have endured a frustrating season after falling just short of a top six finish which means that any hopes of securing promotion will need to wait until next term.

Mick McCarthy has certainly overseen an upturn in form but supporters know that there's work to be done.

Cardiff will be looking to bring plenty of players in this summer, while a number of first-teamers may also be moved on in order to make way for new arrivals.

But what transfer developments could we see from the club over the course of the summer? Let's take a look.

The Sunderland striker is certainly attracting plenty of interest this summer.

Reports from Sky Sports have claimed that Cardiff City are among the clubs interested in Charlie Wyke after a wonderful season in which he's scored 30 goals for the Black Cats

With a contract that expires this summer it means that competition will be fierce for his signature, with the likes of Nottingham Forest, Millwall and Middlesbrough also keen on a move.

Given that he's available for nothing at the end of the season it's no surprise to see why Wyke could be a good addition for Cardiff, and it'll be interesting to see whether the club do in fact make a move.

There's no doubt that Lee Tomlin could benefit from a move away.

The attacking midfielder has endured a rough season with a series of injuries stopping him from making any sort of impact at first team level.

While he's since returned to fitness it's been tough for him to break into Mick McCarthy's plans, meaning that the writing could be on the wall for him.

There's no doubt that Tomlin is a quality player but first team opportunities could be hard to come by, meaning that he may be allowed to move on.

If he does there's bound to be a number of clubs interested.

The Accrington Stanley man is going to be hot property this summer.

Reports from The Sun claim that the striker is a transfer target for Cardiff City as they look to bolster their attacking line.

Charles has enjoyed a productive campaign having scored 19 goals for the League One club, establishing himself as one of the best attackers outside of the Championship.

The 25-year-old is a proven goalscorer and that's why he's attracting such interest.

Given that he could be available for a modest fee there's going to be lots of competition to sign him and so Cardiff will need to move swiftly.

One Cardiff City player who looks certain to move on this summer.

Robert Glatzel is a talent but it just hasn't worked out for the striker since moving to South Wales.

He enjoyed a decent first campaign at the club but the German forward found things difficult during the first half of this campaign before being allowed to leave the club on loan.

With Mick McCarthy very particular about the identity of the squad that he's building, it seems that the 27-year-old is unlikely to be a part of his plans.

That means that he should be allowed to move on to free up funds for new additions.

There's no doubt that the winger will be a name in the frame in the coming months.

Harry Wilson has spent the season on loan in South Wales and has enjoyed a decent campaign having scored four goals and creating a further 12 for Mick McCarthy's side.

While he's registered to Liverpool, the 24-year-old has struggled to break into the first team fold at Anfield and looks likely to see his long-term future away from the current Premier League champions.

Whether Cardiff can afford to bring the player back to the club this summer remains to be seen, but I'd very very surprised if this wasn't a conversation that was had.

Alex Smithies is a player who could be set for an uncertain future.

The goalkeeper is undoubtedly a quality player but is a prime candidate to be moved on with a summer rebuild being a priority.

Smithies has fallen out of favour under Mick McCarthy, and given that he's among the higher earners at the club it seems like his place in the squad could now be in question.

Dillon Phillips seems to be the number one choice between the sticks, but with Smithies having another year left on his contract it means that there could be a question mark over whether he'll move on this summer or next.

The youngster is a player who is tipped for a very bright future.

Joshua Kayode is a Rotherham United player but it's been his loan spell with Carlisle United in League Two which has really caught the eye in the EFL.

According to Football Insider, Cardiff City are among the clubs who could be tempted to make a move for the young forward with Middlesbrough, Bournemouth and Brentford also said to be keen on the 20-year-old.

Whether Rotherham will want to see the player is up for debate, but if they suffer relegation to League One then there's a chance that one of these Championship clubs could look to tie up a deal for the talented forward.

Cardiff City supporters will be praying that they don't lose their star striker.

Kieffer Moore only arrived at the club last summer but has already proven himself as a fans' favourite after proving his credentials as one of the best attackers in the Championship.

The 28-year-old has scored 20 goals so far this term and it'd be naive for the club to think that a bigger team won't come knocking for him after such an impressive campaign.

That said I'm sure that Mick McCarthy won't want to lose him and will surely be firmly focused on ensuring he's in the team at the start of next term.

If he does leave, however, there's no doubt that Cardiff would be set for a hefty profit.

A player who Cardiff City supporters would love to sign.

Jonson Clarke-Harris has been an absolute revelation in League One so far this term after scoring 31 times for Peterborough United as they secured promotion to the Championship.

As a result he's attracted significant interest from the Championship with Football League World exclusively revealing that both the Bluebirds and Swansea City were keen to make a move for the player.

Clarke-Harris is certainly a player who could hit the ground running with Cardiff City but given that the Posh have secured promotion there will now be a big question mark over whether he'd make a move.

If Cardiff were to try and sign the player, he'd certainly cost a significant sum.
