Bradford City have slipped into a disappointing run of form during the League Two run-in, with results hard to come by in recent weeks.

Nevertheless, the Bantams can take pride in just how far they’ve managed to come this season under Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars.

That management pair took over at Bradford at a time when the club were looking anxiously over their shoulders in League Two, fearing the worst as a relegation battle began to loom.

So, for Trueman and Sellars to get Bradford to safety as quickly as they did deserves huge credit.

Around the corner, though, is a huge summer for Bradford, Trueman and Sellars.

The club have a number of decisions to make with regard to their playing squad and making sure that it is in the best possible condition to compete in 2021/22.

With that in mind, we take a look at NINE developments we might well see at Valley Parade…

The goalkeeper was brought to Valley Parade as cover but he’s really struggled to get an opportunity and, as things stand, he’s yet to make an appearance for the Bantams.

The 22-year-old had made his senior debut for Leeds United in the Championship under Marcelo Bielsa, but his career hasn’t gone in the direction that many may have expected since then.

He’s got senior minutes under his belt with Barnet, but things still haven’t taken off.

Can Bradford really afford to give Huffer the platform he needs? You do expect to see him moving on in the summer.

A decision has to be made on the future of Clayton Donaldson, with the Bantams’ skipper out of contract in the summer.

Donaldson has seven goal involvements this season for the Bantams in League Two and, as mentioned, he captains the side.

However, there’s also his age to consider, with Donaldson 37 now and Bradford needing to decide whether or not he is worth a contract extension.

There are reasons for and against signing Donaldson up for at least another 12 months, but there’s a decision to make and it will be interesting to see which direction Bradford take.

Bryce Hosannah has had a tough time of it since arriving at Valley Parade on loan from Leeds United.

There was a lot of excitement surrounding the Leeds loanee, who arrived at Bradford with plenty of good reviews following his impact in the Whites’ under-23s.

However, a hamstring injury means that it has been a frustrating season for the full-back and he’s back at Leeds recovering from his latest setback.

Trueman and Sellars will, no doubt, regret the fact they’ve not had the chance to work with Hosannah, which might well lead to them making a move to re-sign the full-back in the summer.

After all, there is a strong link to Leeds.

Given the Bradford and Leeds connection, there’s also Stevens to consider.

The winger is also on loan with Bradford from Leeds, having cut his spell with Swindon Town short in the January transfer window.

In different circumstances, it has been difficult for Stevens to make an impact at Bradford and he will return to Leeds in the summer.

Given his lack of opportunity and impact in a Bradford shirt since arriving on loan, you cannot help but feel that Stevens will be playing his football elsewhere in 2021/22.

Leeds need to find him the right club and, ultimately, Bradford doesn’t feel like the best fit.

Clarke has been involved with Bradford on and off for some time now, with the striker’s latest stint at Valley Parade set to come to an end in the summer.

The 33-year-old has scored twice and registered five assists this season for Bradford and proved to be a useful enough option in the fourth tier.

However, he is out of contract in the summer and, again, a decision has to be made on what the Bradford management team want to do moving forwards.

Clarke offers a fairly decent option, but the nature of his spell at Valley Parade so far does beg the question whether or not the club could be willing to let him leave once more.

Onto another out of contract player in the form of Kian Scales.

Scales, 18, has managed to make 20 appearances in League Two for Bradford this season and, given his age, he’s also a player with plenty more to give if he develops like he should.

However, as mentioned at the top of this slide, he’s out of contract in the summer and that’s a concern.

Bradford need to move to address that as quickly as possible, so they can start moving forwards with their planning.

If Scales isn’t going to be around Bradford need to know so they can get plans in place to move forwards. If he ends up committing, it is obviously great news for the Bantams.

As we’ve touched on before, there’s a strong connection between Bradford and Leeds at this moment in time.

The Bantams have been trusted with the likes of Hosannah and Stevens in the last 12 months, and there’s plenty of more good youngsters at Elland Road that could be of use to the club.

The fact that Leeds are a Premier League side means that these youngsters are going to be limited for opportunities at Elland Road, so could be on the move.

Bradford will surely be asking the question if somebody becomes available that catches their eye.

As you might have seen venturing through this list, there’s the potential to be a bit of an overhaul when it comes to the striking department at Valley Parade.

Donaldson and Clarke are out of contract, as to is Lee Novak.

There’s probably a chance that Bradford will work something out with one of the aforementioned trio, but there’s going to be a need to get a fresh face in to take the squad forwards.

There aren’t crystal clear links right now with regard to the route Bradford will go, but there is another decision to make here for Trueman and Sellars.

Back in January, Bradford were linked with Leeds United forward, Edmondson.

The towering striker had been on loan with Aberdeen in the first-half of the season, but returned to the EFL in January.

He did, though, snub Bradford in favour of Northampton and League One, but he has scored just twice in the third tier.

Bradford have this clear relationship with Leeds and if Edmondson is available in the summer, you can’t rule the Bantams out of the mix to sign him, particularly given the fact that they need to strengthen their options in attack.

One to watch, you’d imagine.
