Southampton are one of the more established sides in the Premier League.

With that comes the opportunity to sign some of the best players in the game who will give you every chance of kicking on and pushing towards the top flight’s top six, and even European competition.

But that hasn’t always been the way on the South Coast.

For want of a better word, the Saints have signed some right stinkers over the years.

Some signings don’t work out because of injury or bad form, while others are doomed to fail from the start with many questioning why they arrived in the first place.
