Preston North End are no strangers to signing young, up and coming players, especially in recent years.

The likes of Ben Pearson, Tom Bayliss, Ryan Ledson have all arrived as young players with potential and have really stepped up their games at Deepdale, with the former joining AFC Bournemouth in January.

Naturally, when a football club makes a lot of signings over a certain period of time, not every one of those players will make an impact.

In fact, some will completely flatter to deceive, and despite signing two or three-year contracts upon their arrival, some will leave a year, or even months into their deal.

Here, we take a look at nine Preston North End signings that completely flopped. Would you agree with any of these, or did some of these players deserve more credit?

Take a look at our list and have your say in the comments below...

Tsoumou made the move from Germany over to Deepdale in 2011, joining from Alemannia Aachen after a trial with Sheffield Wednesday.

Tsoumou arrived at a time where Neil Mellor and Iain Hume were first-choice striking options, and he had to bide his time at first.

But the Congolese striker was unable to make any sort of impact at Deepdale, featuring 22 times in all competitions for the club and scoring only four goals.

He was sent on loan to Plymouth Argyle a few months later, before being shipped out on a permanent basis in 2012, joining Austrian club TSV Hartberg.

Wright arrived at Deepdale from Ipswich Town in 2012, having also previously been on the books at the likes of West Ham United, Everton and Arsenal.

He actually had three spells with Ipswich, but his final spell with the club came to an end in 2012 when he moved to Preston.

But only a week into pre-season training, Wright was to leave the club due to homesickness.

He subsequently left the club, having made no appearances whatsoever.

He later joined Manchester City, though, spending four years on their books before eventually hanging up his boots.

Nicholls arrived at Deepdale from Leeds United for a fee of around £750,000 in 2007, with the midfielder a key player at Elland Road.

The arrival of Alan Irvine pushed him down the pecking order, though, despite being a key player in the first half of the season.

Paul McKenna, Darren Carter and Richard Chaplow pushed Nicholls down the pecking order, and the following August, both the club and the player came to an agreement over the cancellation of his contract.

He later joined Luton Town, and he simply failed to live up to the high expectations placed upon him during his time at Preston.

Neill Collins initially arrived on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers before his move was made permanent for a big-money fee in January.

But following Irvine's departure from Deepdale and Darren Ferguson's appointment, Collins fell out of favour in Lancashire.

He later joined Leeds United on loan as cover for the injured Patrick Kisnorbo, before penning a three-year deal with the Whites the following summer.

Despite impressing on loan originally, Collins' time at Deepdale after penning a permanent deal was a flop and a major disappointment

Daley was seen as a bit of an unknown yet exciting addition when he joined Preston from Tivoli Gardens in 2011.

The forward initially came on trial and penned a deal with North End on Deadline Day in August 2011.

He made his debut in the 2–1 defeat against Southampton in the League Cup, but was substituted at half time.

He made eight appearances for North End in total, scoring only one goal, before returning to Tivoli after mutually terminating his contract in January 2013.

Amoo was another exciting attacking addition when he joined the club from Liverpool as a youngster.

Amoo had been on loan at the likes of MK Dons, Hull City and Bury before penning a permanent move away from Anfield.

But in 17 appearances for North End, the forward was unable to find the back of the net, and he quickly fell out of favour.

He then moved to Tranmere Rovers in 2013, before going on to have spells with the likes of Carlisle, Partick Thistle, Cambridge and Port Vale.

Trotman arrived at Deepdale from Oldham Athletic for around £500,000 in 2008 having been a key player for the Latics.

But the defender suffered an injury that sidelined him for the rest of the season, after penning a move to Deepdale in the January transfer window.

He tried to regain fitness by spending time on loan at the likes of Colchester, Southampton, Huddersfield and even back at Oldham.

But his time at Deepdale eventually came to an end, when he joined Rochdale in 2012 upon the expiry of his contract.

It may be unfair to label him a flop as injuries weren't his fault, but the transfer ultimately failed to work out.

Sissoko joined Preston from French fifth division side Louhans-Cuiseaux FC in 1998 under the tutelage of David Moyes.

Sissoko was undoubtedly an unknown quantity who had clearly caught the eye in the lower leagues of France, but his move to Deepdale completely failed to pay off.

After joining in February 1998, he only made seven appearances for the club, failing to score before being released at the end of the season.

The Malian forward played for nine other clubs after leaving North End, including Torquay United, Red Star 93, Nimes and Brest.

North End took a punt on another foreign player in 2006, with Seyfo Soley arriving at Deepdale.

The Gambian midfielder joined Preston from Belgian side Genk after falling out of favour in Belgium and not playing regularly at all.

The midfielder made his debut in 2007 against Manchester City in the FA Cup, but was to feature only six times for the club before leaving in the summer.

He later had a trial with Norwich City which led to nothing, and he was last seen playing in Cyprus for a team called Doxa Katokopias.

It's fair to say that the 10-time Gambia international failed to set the world alight at Deepdale, unfortunately.
