The summer is fast approaching and with it the transfer window.

With the prospect of fans back in games next season, clubs may feel they've got a little more financial flexibility than last year but things may still be tight.

Hibs boss Jack Ross will be looking to build on his squad and capitalise on the progress they've made this season.

The Edinburgh club have done their fair share of shrewd dealings but they're certainly no stranger to a transfer flop either.

We've highlighted nine Hibs signings that flopped – let us know if you agree...

The Dutch defender has Champions League experience and two Netherlands appearances to his name, so when he arrived at Easter Road in September 2018 it seemed like he could be an interesting addition.

In the end, he managed just three appearances for Hibs and returned to the Eredivisie after just one year at the club.

Pa Kujabi arrived at Easter Road with the nickname 'The Gambian Roberto Carlos' but certainly never lived up to the billing.

The defender had some disastrous moments for Hibs – not least in the 2012 Scottish Cup final when he gave away a penalty and was sent off early in the second half.

Signing a young defender on loan from Monaco is an exciting prospect but Torben Joneleit's time with Hibs was dull.

The German managed just 82 minutes of football for the Scottish club in a move that ultimately proved a disappointment for all involved.

Late January signings often reek of panic and perhaps that's what we can put this one down too.

Hibs signed the midfielder from Motherwell but he made just one appearance for the club, coming off the bench in a 2-1 defeat against Aberdeen.

The striker was a bright young prospect, having moved between the Celtic and Chelsea academies but his move to Hibs was one of a number of failed spells out on loan.

The statistics don't lie on this one – six appearances, 63 minutes, and no goals.

Another striker that flopped at Hibs, James Collins faced a difficult task in replacing Leigh Griffiths when he arrived from Swindon Town in 2013.

Collins had fired in goals in the EFL but managed just six in his single season at Easter Road before being sent back to the English lower leagues in 2014.

A return to his Scotland on loan from Sporting Lisbon in January 2019 seemed like a move that could work for all parties – it didn't.

Ryan Gauld never found his feet for Hibs and to make things worse, has been in phenomenal form for SC Farense over the past two seasons.

There was a fair bit of hype surrounding Alan O'Brien when he arrived from Newcastle United and though he did have pace, he didn't seem to offer much else.

He made 47 appearances for the club, yes, but the fact his contract was eventually cancelled by mutual consent says enough about his time at the club.

The Cypriot right-back signed as a free agent in October 2018 and was gone a few months later.

He managed just two appearances in a forgettable spell for Hibs before leaving to join Omonia Nikosia.
