Wolves have enjoyed a fantastic first half to the Championship season and the league leaders will look to bring in some more quality when the window opens next month in order to seal a return to the Premier League.

The Black Country outfit shocked the football world in the summer when they managed to convince the likes of Willy Boly, Diogo Jota and Ruben Neves to join the club and all three players have been instrumental in Wolves' fine season so far.

Therefore fans will be exepcting similar big-name signings to come in next month, although Nuno Espirito Santo has stressed the need to sign quality over quantity.

Having failed to sign a striker on deadline day, Wolves will certainly be after someone to compete with Leo Bonatini, whilst Matt Doherty is the only recognised right wing-back in the squad with Phil Ofosu-Ayeh out injured.

Here we look at five transfer targets that could make the move to Molinuex in January, focusing mainly on players who play in those two positions.

Jurgen Locadia

A move for PSV forward Locadia fell through on deadline day and it could be something that Wolves look to resurrect next month.

Quick, powerful and with nine Eredivisie goals already this season, he would fit effortlessly into the system that Santo adopts.

He would command a hefty fee, £10m was suggested in August, but Locadia has the potential to be a Premier League player so could be a good investment by the club.

Lewis Grabban

If Wolves are looking for someone who can do a job from now until the end of the season, then Grabban is the answer.

He has scored goals for fun in a poor Sunderland side and would surely continue to find the net in this talented Wolves team.

With Leo Bonatini as the main man, Santo may only require cover. And, the Bournemouth man is available and could help the leaders over the line this season.

James Tavernier

The Rangers man has all the attributes to be a quality right wing-back in the Championship.

Excellent going forward and boasting a superb delivery, he would provide serious competition for Matt Doherty.

Rangers would be reluctant to sell, but he would still be a relatively cheap signing for Santo and would excel in the 3-4-3 formation.

Ryan Fredericks

If Wolves want to give Doherty serious competition they could go out and sign Ryan Fredericks from Fulham, who is one of the best right-backs in the league.

His attacking instincts mean he would suit the wing-back role superbly and Fulham's lowly position mean he may push for a move to the leaders.

Fredericks was one of few Cottagers players to impress against Wolves when the sides met recently and may have caught Santo's eye.

Rafa Silva

Rafa Silva is the only player who isn't a wing-back or striker on this list, so won't be a priority. However, when quality is available you have to take a look.

The attacking midfielder joined Benfica for £15m but it hasn't really worked out although that's not down to a lack of ability.

Silva would give Wolves another fantastic option in the final third and whilst it would normally be deemed an unrealistic signing, with Jorge Mendes involved and their work over the summer then you can't rule anything out!
