Crystal Palace have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks despite winning only one of their last five league games.

The Eagles held Manchester United to a goalless draw at Selhurst Park before falling to a heavy 4-1 away defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

But a home win over West Bromwich Albion before a battling away performance at Everton followed shortly after.

You feel that with a strong summer transfer window, Palace could fight for a top-half finish in the Premier League under Roy Hodgson next season.

Over the years, Palace have made plenty of signings, much like any other club, and some arrivals have set the world alight at Selhurst Park.

But there have been many who have flopped, too, and here, we take a look at nine who Palace fans will wince at the thought of looking back...

After ending 2015 without a club, Palace took a chance on Adebayor in January 2016, with the striker penning a deal until the end of the season.

But in 15 appearances for the club, the Togolese striker scored only one goal and was rumoured to be on some pretty substantial wages.

He is now without a club after flattering to deceive in Turkey.

Mutch spent four years at Palace, but made only 30 appearances for the Eagles.

He had loan spells with Reading and Vancouver Whitecaps, with the latter rejecting the chance to sign him permanently.

In fairness to Bamford, he has been one of the best strikers in the Premier League this season.

But the Leeds United man flattered to deceive at Palace, after joining the club on loan from Chelsea in 2015.

Bamford's loan was terminated in December, despite being set to spend the whole season at Selhurst Park.

He failed to score a single goal for the club.

After a spell with Gaziantep, Ameobi returned to England in 2015 to join Palace on a free transfer under Alan Pardew.

The striker made only four league appearances for Palace, though, and was released at the end of the season after failing to score.

Another striker who completely failed to make an impact at Palace was Sanogo.

Sanogo joined Palace on loan from Arsenal in January 2015 for the remainder of the season.

He scored his only goal for the club in a FA Cup clash with Southampton, making 11 appearances in total.

Another striker! This time it's Kevin Doyle.

He was loaned from Wolves to Palace in September 2014 until January, but failed to score in only three sub appearances for the club.

Benteke reunited with his brother, Christian, joining Palace's development squad in September 2016.

He made his debut in an away win at Middlesbrough where he replaced his brother, but injuries ruined his time at Selhurst Park.

He was released at the end of the season.

After leaving Bordeaux, Marange signed for Palace on a free transfer in 2013.

He made his debut in a 2–1 defeat against Bristol City in the second round of the League Cup, but was left out of Ian Holloway's 25-man squad.

He joined Sochaux in January 2014.

Kebe was a great servant to Reading, and brought his five-year spell at the Madejski to an end when he joined Palace in 2013.

But the winger played just 189 Premier League minutes, and was surplus to requirements throughout his stay.
