Coventry City have had their fair share of players over the years that have struggled to make a notable impact at the Ricoh Arena.

The Sky Blues are currently playing their football in the Championship, but will know that they have to show an a real fight for results at the earliest of opportunities, otherwise they could be facing relegation back into League One after just one season.

Mark Robins' side are sat just above the relegation zone heading into their final matches of this year's campaign.

We take a look at nine Coventry City signings that flopped, but do you agree?

Raffaele Nuzzo certainly didn't endure the best of spells with Coventry City whilst on loan from Italian giants Inter Milan.

The goalkeeper only made one appearance for the Sky Blues, which came in a 5-1 defeat to Tranmere Rovers in the Worthington Cup back in 1999.

Steve Ogrizovic was Coventry City's second-choice goalkeeper before Nuzzo's arrival, and he recovered from injury sooner than originally planned, which resulted in Nuzzo being sent back to Inter Milan.

He then moved to Italian side Reggiana, and briefly returned to English football with Wigan Athletic in a loan spell, before calling time on his playing career in 2007.

Alex Yevtushok is next up, with the former Coventry City man failing to make a notable impact in his time with the club whilst they were playing their football in the Premier League

He signed for the club in 1997 from Ukrainian side FC Dnipro, and made his debut against Manchester United. However, it was a debut to forget as he was substituted after just 30 minutes of the match.

That set the tone for the remainder of his time with Coventry City, as Yevtushok went on to make just two more appearances after that outing against the Red Devils.

He was then released from his contract later that year after the Sky Blues avoided relegation into the second-tier.

Kevin Kyle is another player that didn't impress whilst with Coventry City, with the Scotsman making 44 appearances for the club in total.

He arrived from Sunderland in 2006, but struggled to make a positive impact in his time with the Sky Blues, as he scored just five goals in total for them.

Kyle was sent out on loan to both Wolves and Hartlepool United in his time with Coventry City, after finding game time hard to come by towards the later stages of his time with the club.

He left the club permanently in 2009, and went on to sign for Kilmarnock. But after spells with Rangers, and Heart of Midlothian, Kyle finished his playing career with Ayr United in 2014.

Craig Bellamy is next on the list as one of the signings that struggled to make a notable impact in their time with Coventry City.

The Welsh winger arrived with high hopes, after catching the eye with some strong performances for Norwich City, after scoring regularly for the Canaries in a four-year spell with the club's first-team.

Bellamy found it hard to replicate that return with Coventry City though, and scored just six goals in 35 appearances for the Sky Blues.

He departed after just one season with the club, as they were relegated from the top-flight, as he went on to sign for Newcastle United.

Sherwood's spell with Coventry City certainly wasn't a memorable one at all, after he signed for the club in July 2004 whilst Peter Reid was in charge of the club.

Sherwood had previously been on the books with the likes of Norwich City, Blackburn Rovers and Tottenham Hotspur before moving to the Sky Blues.

But he struggled for a consistent run in the team, and made just 11 appearances for the club in total, before leaving Coventry by mutual consent on 1st July 2005.

That proved to be his last spell as a player, as he later went into management with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

Viorel Moldovan is next up on this list, with the Romanian international making just ten appearances across a one-year spell with Coventry City.

Moldovan scored 25 goals for the Romanian national side, and there was plenty of expectation on his shoulders when he arrived at the club, especially after such an impressive spell with Swiss side Grasshopper Club Zürich prior to him signing for the Sky Blues.

He did the score the winner against Aston Villa in one of his appearances for Coventry, whilst also scoring against Crystal Palace, but it was certainly a forgetful spell, especially when there was so much hope that he could replicate the type of performances that he had shown with Grasshopper Club Zürich.

Onandi Lowe is up next, with the Jamaican forward signing for the club in 2004, after a hugely impressive spell with Rushden & Diamonds.

He didn't get off to a good start with manager Eric Black at the time of his arrival, as he failed to report back for club duty on time, after spending time with the Jamaican national team.

Lowe scored his first and only goal for the club against Crewe Alexandra, but only made two appearances for the Sky Blues, before he was released at the end of the 2003/04 season due to off-the-field troubles.

He went on to play his football in Jamaica after that, before calling time on his career in 2008.

Yakubu arrived with an impressive CV, having made a name for himself with Everton earlier in his career, but he failed to live up to that with Coventry City.

The former Nigerian international scored goals for fun with the likes of Everton, Middlesbrough and Portsmouth after making the move over to English football with Pompey in 2003.

But after a run of strong performances with Chinese side Guangzhou City F.C., he failed to settle down with a club towards the end of his career.

Yakubu signed for Coventry City in 2013, but only went on to make three appearances in total for the club, but failed to score a single goal, before departing later that year, in what proved to be his last spell in football as a player.

Peter Ramage is the last player on the list, with the defender signing for the club back in January 2016.

He had caught the eye with some strong performances for Newcastle United and QPR earlier in his career, but was most recently with Indian side Kerala Blasters FC before moving to Coventry City.

The defender made just four appearances for the Sky Blues in total though, before leaving the club at the end of his contract in the same season.

It was a disappointing spell especially when the defender had shown that he can perform to a high standard at a higher level earlier in his career.
