It was quite an afternoon for Bolton Wanderers as they recorded a 1-0 victory over MK Dons.

That result was the Trotters' third victory of the season and was enough to move them onto a positive points total for the first time following their 12-point deduction.

One man who was key to that result was Daryl Murphy.

The former Ipswich Town and Sunderland striker moved to the University of Bolton Stadium at the start of September and has made a real impact since his arrival.

Murphy has now scored three goals in six games for Bolton Wanderers, and already looks like a shrewd addition as they look to defy the odds and challenge to avoid relegation to League Two.

Here, we take a closer look at the 36-year-old's match-winning performance against MK Dons.

It was a game where Daryl Murphy looked like he was going to be the villain, but instead he went from zero to hero.

The 36-year-old played the full 90 minutes and contributed a huge amount during that time, but one key statistic nearly got supporters on his back.

Murphy missed a penalty which looked like it could be decisive until his late winner against MK Dons spared his blushes.

A goal was a deserved reward for the striker who was very impressive throughout.

As well as getting a goal, Murphy carved out six shots on goal for himself, while also winning an impressive nine aerial duels, showing his dominance against the MK Dons defence.

There's no doubting that Daryl Murphy has all of the quality to be a key player for Bolton Wanderers this term, and if he can put in performances like this every week then the Trotters will be delighted with his addition.
