Leeds United will be aiming to bring themselves back into play-off contention with their summer signings this year.

The men from Elland Road struggled last season in the end and finished in the middle of nowhere thanks to some torrid form after the turn of the year.

Indeed, much was made of a lack of grit and stomach for the fight in their side as they seemed too easy to bully and, for a club like Leeds, that is a cardinal sin.

With that said, then, some bite and experience could be the order of the day in West Yorkshire, which brings us nicely onto our latest FLW Spotlight subject James Collins:

The Welsh defender has been unceremoniously dumped by the Hammers by the looks of things with them looking to move onwards and upwards in the top flight.

That said, though, the 34-year-old still has plenty to offer for the right club and, though he'd not probably be able to play a 46-game season, he'd certainly bring something to Leeds.

When the going got tough last year, very few of the Whites' men got going but here is a man who is more than happy to mix it come what may.

His prowess in the air is particularly stand-out and paired with Pontus Jansson or, fans will hope, Kyle Bartley, he'd surely help create a very sturdy back-line indeed when called upon.

And, when he's not on the pitch, he'd be a vocal example to follow which, again, Leeds lacked far too much of last year.
