Fernando Forestieri’s absence this season has hurt Sheffield Wednesday, who have struggled without the Italian playmaker in the Sky Bet Championship.

Wednesday are heading for a mid-table finish, but have been encouraged by the impact Forestieri has had since returning from injury, with the 28-year-old scoring four goals in six appearances.

During his time at Hillsborough, Forestieri has been a class above, but how much is he worth in today’s market, after the season he has had?

We discuss…

Chris Gallagher

About £10-12m.

Forestieri has been in fine form since returning from a long lay-off and on his day is one of the best forwards in the league.

He was linked with a move to Newcastle in 2016 for around the fee mentioned and it would still be a fair price for the 28-year-old.

George Dagless

I don't think he's lost that much value.

Injuries can happen to anyone and since he's returned he's looked sharp and back to being one of the key men in the side for Wednesday.

I think he'd probably be worth about £12m but I don't see him leaving in the summer.

Ben Barkworth

Forestieri needed to have knee surgery early in the season, which made him miss most of it, but he has been in hot form since he returned with his performance against Reading being his best.

Therefore, he is probably worth around £15 million in the current market due to his age and the impact he can have on a team.

Jay Williams

It has been a frustrating season for Forestieri as he has only managed eight Championship games.

But with four goals to his name in that time, the 28-year-old is showing that the injury has not affected him too much.

If I was Sheffield Wednesday, I would not sell him for anything less than about £8m.

Gary Hutchinson

Four goals from nine appearances? I'd say he's not worth all that much based on this season.

It is hard to price a footballer who's been injured, but on this season he's not worth a lot more than a few million.

We know different though, if he's fit and firing on all cylinders he's worth £6m of anyone's money.

Sam Rourke

Of course, the enigmatic attacking midfielder has only just returned from a lengthy injury, but he's already proving so effective after such a long time out.

We all know how good he is, and on his day, he's one of the best players outside of the Premier League.

A fully-fit Fernando Forestieri should demand in excess of £15m. He's class.
