West Bromwich Albion’s Harvey Barnes has started life off well during his loan spell at The Hawthorns.

The Leicester loanee scored on his competitive debut for the Baggies last weekend in the 2-1 reverse to Bolton Wanderers before featuring in the one-all draw at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest three days later.

Having made the loan move before the start of the season, the young midfielder scored two goals on his debut in a pre-season win over Coventry City.

Fans have been pleased with the 20-year-old since his arrival at the Championship club.

Barnes impressed during a six-month loan at Barnsley last season before making his Premier League debut for his parent club last term.

Under manager Darren Moore, the young loan star looks set to play an integral part of West Brom’s season.

With that in mind, during the current transfer climate, how much is Barnes currently worth?

We put the question to our team of FLW writers to discuss…

Jay Williams

Barnes is a young, exciting English talent and that always costs a bomb.

If West Brom wanted to snap him up permanently, they would have to spend a big sum of money, especially as he still has many years left on his Leicester contract.

The young winger could easily grow to become a Premier League regular and a top talent pushing for England senior spots.

Leicester should price him at around £15m in today’s market given all the aforementioned factors.

Gary Hutchinson

That is a hard price to pull out of the air. Barnes is an incredible young talent, but what price can you put on a player who hasn't proved himself as yet in the top flight?

I suppose the question is more about how much value you place on potential, rather than the finished article. If my team paid any more than £7m for him in his current position, I'd feel we'd overpaid.

That is likely to change if he plays regular football this season though.

It's an exciting time for the youngster.

Alfie Burns

It’s difficult to say.

Barnes has had a strong start to life with West Brom, but we’ve not seen too much of him at senior level to know.

He’s 20 and has potential, so I’d say £5-7m would be a fair price for the winger’s signature.

George Dagless

I think around £8m - £10m.

It doesn't seem as though Leicester have realised the talent they've got at their disposal just yet.

He's still a young player, but he can kick on and become a top-flight star.

One to watch this season without a doubt.
