Leeds United missed the chance to go top of the Championship last night with a tepid display at Loftus Road.

They were beaten 1-0 by Queens Park Rangers, courtesy of a 49th minute strike by former Arsenal trainee Luke Freeman. Whilst Leeds showed plenty of endeavour, they couldn't find a killer blow, nor a rhythm that would see them salvage a result.

It was a disappointing outcome and proof that games in hand do not always mean points in the bag. It leaves the Whites fighting desperately to save their automatic promotion hopes in the lost 12 matches of the season.

Right back Luke Ayling is one player who has come under-fire in recent week, so FLW kept a close eye on him during the game to make him the feature of out latest spotlight piece.

Ayling played 73 minutes of the fixture before being brought off in favour of Stuart Dallas. During his time on the pitch, he made 50 passes with an impressive 88% success rate. The average is around 79% which showed him to have had a good evening of distribution.

As the full back he was expected to get down the line and provide crosses, as well as back up his winger and he did manage one cross during the encounter. He also played three accurate long balls, showing a keen awareness of teammates positioning.

He was certainly enjoying his time on the pitch, even if his team did not get the right result. He weighed in with two keys passes, which are essentially assists but without the goal at the end.

He looked incredibly active in terms of passing and creativity all evening.

He didn't shirk his defensive duties entirely, making one tackle.

Ayling didn't have a truly terrible game, despite sections of Leeds fans laying into him on Twitter, and had these stats come from a match in which Leeds had won, he may well have had at least one assist.

Sadly, they're wasteful in front of goal right now and that reflects on the whole side, not just the full back.
