Despite Leeds United’s recent troubles in the Sky Bet Championship, Thomas Christiansen has stuck with a select group of players as he aims to turn the club’s fortunes around, with the Elland Road boss putting his faith in the group of players that led the Whites to top of the table in mid-September.

One player who is struggling for an opportunity at Elland Road is Hadi Sacko, who has been handed just 88 minutes of Championship action, with his only real chance under Christiansen coming in the Carabao Cup, which Leeds are now out of.

Sacko spent last year on-loan at Elland Road, with Garry Monk handing the tricky Frenchman a key role, as Leeds went in search of a top-six finish. Sacko managed 38 Championship appearances last season, scoring two goals and registering four assists, which was an acceptable debut season in English football.

Leeds moved to make Sacko’s move to Leeds permanent over the summer, handing the 23-year-old a contract until the summer of 2020, after an impressive first 12 months.

However, the player has struggled to work his way into Christiansen’s plans this season, despite a number of positive cameo displays and Sacko will feel like he has made a mistake making his move to Elland Road permanent in the summer.

Sacko has a lot to learn, he would probably be one of the first people to admit that, but the only way he will improve and learn is from playing regular football, which Christiansen is not giving him the opportunity of, despite Leeds clearly needing a change in approach.

The 23-year-old needs to push for a move away from Elland Road in January, either temporary or permanent, as he looks to find a coach that will hand him regular first-team opportunities and a chance to build on the promising start he made to his career in England.
