With just 12 games left to play in the Sky Bet Championship, few people would have predicted at the start of the season that Norwich City would be the team to catch, with just a couple of months left of the campaign.

After losing the likes of James Maddison, Josh Murphy and Angus Gunn in the summer, the pressure was on Daniel Farke as he looked to rebuild his squad, with very little expectation placed upon his side ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

But the German has certainly silenced his critics, and ahead of a trip to Millwall this weekend, the Canaries have proved on more than one occasion this season that they are one of the best footballing sides to ever grace the division.

The Norfolk side have everything - they have a prolific forward in Teemu Pukki who just keeps on getting better and better as weeks pass by, a midfield blessed with  talent and skill, and a defence that rarely ships goals.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect about the Norwich team, however, is the club's plethora of talented youngsters, who have all played their part in what is shaping up to be a magnificent season for City.

Jamal Lewis, Max Aarons and Todd Cantwell have all impressed, but a player who has gone under the radar this season and emerged as one of Norwich's most important players is Ben Godfrey.

With the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal already declaring an interest in the youngster, we take a look at whether Godfrey's stats from this season justify such a big step-up in the summer.

A midfielder by trade, Godfrey has shown real maturity since playing alongside Christoph Zimmermann in the heart of defence, due to the absence of regular centre-half Timm Klose.

The 21-year old, who has made 19 league appearances for the Canaries this season, has been exceptional in defence, making an average of 3.9 clearances per game and winning 2.2 aerial duels per game too.

Going forward, Godfrey is obviously very comfortable, having played as a midfielder for the majority of his brief career. As well as scoring twice and producing two assists, the youngster has accrued a pass success rate of 88.2%, having completed an impressive 42.5 passes per game this term.

Godfrey is so important to the way that Norwich play - he is able to drive forward from defence and create plenty of chances for a Norwich team that just love to score goals.

These statistics suggest that he'd fit in seamlessly at the likes of United and Arsenal...
