He's divided opinion with his football career to date, but one Middlesbrough star is keen to make up for lost time.

Ravel Morrison was regarded as one of the hottest prospects in world football when he came through the ranks at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson.

A teammate of players such as Gerard Pique, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard, the 27-year-old was tipped for big things but has so far failed to fulfil that unrivalled potential.

West Ham United, Queens Park Rangers and Birmingham City are just some of the clubs who have tried to get the best from Ravel Morrison, but none of them have managed so far.

The hope for Middlesbrough is that they might have the key to unlock his talent.

Signed on loan from Sheffield United in January, Jonathan Woodgate has thrown his full support behind the 27-year-old as he looks to mentor the attacking midfielder both on and off the pitch to put his past controversies behind him in order to be a star player for the Teessiders.

He may have only played one game for Middlesbrough so far, but we may have already seen enough to know that Morrison is willing to repay the faith shown in him by Woodgate.

We took to Wyscout to look over the numbers of his one Reds' appearance and look at what he could offer moving forward.

Ravel Morrison may only be with Middlesbrough until the end of the season, but he'll no doubt be hoping to make a big impression.

While he's been limited to just one appearance so far, the 27-year-old showed glimpses of the undoubted potential that gave him the status of a future world-beater.

That display came against Wigan Athletic last week when Morrison started the game and played 71 minutes against the Latics.

Given the fact that this was his first start in a long time, it's no surprise that he wasn't deemed to be fit enough to last the full 90 minutes.

However his impact during that time gave plenty of reasons to be excited.

Morrison had a pass accuracy of 87% which is an impressive statistic at any level as he looked to get on the ball and move the Teessiders forward.

As well as attempting one dribble and achieving two progressive runs, there was a couple of unexpected statistics to surface from the flair player's performance.

The 27-year-old made a real effort to work hard for the team - something which will have gone down incredibly well with Jonathan Woodgate.

Morrison pressed the Latics hard during his time on the pitch and made an impressive four recoveries in the opposition half to heap the pressure on the relegation candidates.

In addition to that, the midfielder won a stunning nine duels over the course of the game which showed that he's more than just a show pony; in fact, Morrison is a player who could prove to be a really effective all-round performer in the Middlesbrough midfield.

Plenty of supporters will be calling for the 27-year-old to start against Barnsley this weekend, and if he's given the opportunity the hope will be that he can kick on from his display against Wigan to really take the game to the Tykes.
