Norwich City have still got a chance of getting into the play-offs this season but they need to be close to perfect for the rest of the campaign.
Certainly, the Canaries are capable on going on good runs – they are in the midst of a decent one now – but they have also switched off at times this year and that has left them with only an outside chance of the top six.
They go into the East Anglia derby against Ipswich level on points with their Suffolk based rivals, then, and both know a win could basically knock the other out of play-off contention.
Norwich will have to do it without at least one key man, though – our latest FLW Spotlight subject Tom Trybull:
Norwich, of course, have a decent squad and good midfielders – as demonstrated by their draw at Derby last weekend – but Trybull is still going to be missed, just look at those stats for a start.
A proper central midfielder if you will, Trybull won’t get the headlines of a James Maddison or Nelson Oliveira (when on form) but he’s certainly played his part this season.
87.5% pass success rate puts him right up there with the best in the league, whilst he can do the ‘destroyer’ role from deep perhaps even better than that of the ‘creator.’
2.5 tackles and 2.1 interceptions a game are just a couple of stats that underline his all-round ability in the middle of the pitch and, though Norwich should be able to cope without him, he’s going to be missed – starting with Ipswich this weekend.
