Fulham continued their strong promotion march last night as they put away Sheffield United 3-0 at Craven Cottage.

In a game that was billed as a clash between two play-off challengers, only one side really looked ready to make the step up to the Premier League and that was the Cottagers.

It wasn't their most flowing performance, but it was clinical and efficient and to score three without reply without also needing to get into top gear sends an ominous warning.

The likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic and Tom Cairney will get much of the plaudits from the game, then, but our latest FLW Spotlight subject deserves just as much credit:

Fulham's midfield was superbly serene on the ball last night as the usual Blades tenacity bounced off of them and McDonald proved to be a rock on which Fulham could build.

He was physical but not overzealous and he did both the simple and the complex with minimum fuss.

This was a performance that, once again for him, perhaps wouldn't grab the immediate headlines but, when you consider his impact on a deeper scale you realise how vital he is.

Fulham's run has been built on great attacking play, but it wouldn't be anywhere near as effective without McDonald keeping it all together.
