Brentford have had a very good season so far and are currently sitting fifth in the Championship, just two points behind second-placed Leeds United.

The Bees have a number of key players in their squad, with the front three of Said Benrahma, Ollie Watkins and Bryan Mbuemo regularly getting the plaudits for their attacking prowess in the current campaign.

One man who has performed very well in recent weeks is Julian Jeanvier. The centre-back produced an impressive display against Middlesbrough on Saturday and even managed to get on the scoresheet for his side.

The Guinea international is 27-years-old and has made 22 appearances for the Bees in the Championship this season, as he looks to play a part in what could be a special campaign if Thomas Frank and his side can achieve promotion.

The centre-half joined Brentford in the summer of 2018 but in the early months of his time at the club, he struggled to get into the first-team. He made 24 league appearances during the 2018/19 season and is now just three away from beating that tally with 15 Championship games left in the current campaign.

Against Middlesbrough, he was terrific and, in addition to scoring, showed some of the impressive parts of his game that have allowed him to keep his place in the side.

He recorded an impressive 86% pass accuracy, which fits in with the way Frank and his Brentford side look to play in this division. Alongside that, he was able to complete 67% of his passes to the final third, which shows the player's ability to not just defend, but actually start attacks.

In terms of his defensive work, Jeanvier read the game well and made four interceptions in total but it was far from the perfect game as he only won 50% of his defensive duels in a game that turned into quite the contest between himself and Boro striker Ashley Fletcher.

With Pontus Jansson out, he's stepped up and become a key figure at the back for the Bees. If he keeps it up, then there's no reason why he can't carry on playing a crucial part in a potential season of success for Brentford.
