Reading FC are set for an interesting summer ahead, with potential player departures on the cards as Jose Gomes looks to trim the wage bill at the Madejski Stadium.

One man that has already left the club is Anssi Jaakkola, who left the club after his contract expired. He wasted no time in finding a new club though, as he signed for Bristol Rovers earlier in the transfer window.

Jaakkola is the subject of our FLW Spotlight this week, so we look into some of his statistics from last season in more detail.

Jaakkola was a regular for Reading in the first-half of last season, but was eventually replaced by Emiliano Martinez between the sticks.

The Arsenal shot-stopper hardly put a foot wrong when he replaced the Finnish international, and Jaakkola left the club after his contract expired at the Madejski Stadium.

He made 17 appearances in total, making 68 saves, so it's clear to see that he was impressive, even though Reading struggled to stay afloat in the Championship last term.

Jaakkola has shown that he is capable of suiting both styles of play, as he is comfortable with his feet, which is clear to see with these statistics.

The goalkeeper attempted 285 passes, and with a pass accuracy percentage of 86.3%, it certainly makes for good reading for Jaakkola.

This statistic isn't surprising to see either, as Reading tried to play a possession-based style of play for all of last season, which, although it might be risky at times, can pay off if they find confidence and consistency in the style.

But he's also shown that he can find a team-mate with a long ball, as he has a success rate of 66%, which isn't the worst for a Reading side that were poor for the majority of last year's campaign.

Some Reading supporters will feel as though Jaakkola could have been an ideal option to have as back-up for Gomes' side next season, but it's clear to see that the shot-stopper is keen to be playing regular first-team football, even if that means he has to drop down a division.

Bristol Rovers have a player that could arguably be playing in the Championship, so it's a real sign of intent by Bristol Rovers to land his signature ahead of the new League One season.

If he can build on some impressive showings for Reading last season, then Bristol Rovers will have a goalkeeper with a considerable amount of talent on their hands next term.
