Norwich City boss Daniel Farke is beginning to put his own mark on the squad having joined the club in May, and the addition of Southampton youngster Harrison Reed is a move firmly sanctioned by the German manager.

Farke had been looking to add a little bite and ingenuity to his Canaries midfield, and adding 22-year-old Reed to the mix is a step in the right direction.

The Worthing-born youngster is beginning to show serious signs of consistently breaking into the first team at St Mary’s, and a loan deal in the Championship is the perfect opportunity for the player to impress new boss Mauricio Pellegrino, who will undoubtedly be keeping tabs on the young man’s progression.

Norwich were in need of midfield reinforcements following the departure of Grahan Dorrans, and Reed will bolster a squad aiming to challenge for the top six when the new season kicks off next month.

Reed must work hard to ensure he does not fall down the pecking order at Carrow Road, however, as a failed loan spell spent on the bench in East Anglia would be a disaster for the future of the youngster.

Reed needs to be playing on a regular basis, and Farke would have provided assurances before the move that the midfielder was key to his plans.

With Dorrans now having departed, the £850k-rated youngster has a real chance to lead one of the biggest clubs in the second tier to a promotion push, something which could be fantastic for his career.
