There was a lot of anticipation surrounding Blackburn Rovers' return to the Championship this season, as League One's Player of the Year would be able to test himself in the second-tier for the first time.

Bradley Dack has been one of Rovers' most important players since arriving at the club from Gillingham last summer, enjoying an outstanding campaign for Tony Mowbray's side last season, scoring 18 goals and assisting eight more to make him one of the summer's most sought-after assets.

But the club kept a firm grip of their man, and the 24-year-old is set to be key again throughout the 2018/19 campaign. And, his fast start has shown this will no doubt be the case.

Blackburn currently sit in 13th position with nine points, drawing three times and winning twice, losing for the first time just last Sunday away to Bristol City.

This is FLW Spotlight, where we take an in-depth look at the form of a particular player and analyse where they are going right and wrong:

Despite missing the last three matches against Bristol City, Reading and Brentford, after limping off in an away win at Hull City, Dack has been the club's outstanding performer.

Before his injury, he had picked up two goals in three appearances, including one in that match against the Tigers.

The more detailed statistics connected to Dack also paint an interesting picture that largely emphasises the quality of his opening performances.

He is averaging just two shots per game, meaning out of the six shots taken in those three games, he has scored with over 33% of them.

This clinical nature bodes very well for the rest of the season and gives Rovers and Mowbray a really good chance of having a very successful season.

An 85% pass accuracy is also very impressive for somebody who has been playing as an attacking midfielder, and as his connection with Adam Armstrong continues to build, so will Dack's number of assists.

Holding onto the 24-year-old through the January transfer window could well be the biggest challenge of the season for Mowbray.
