Both Aston Villa and Birmingham City have endured very poor starts to their respective Sky Bet Championship campaigns.

Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa are languishing in 18th place, having picked up a mere seven points from seven league matches so far.

The Villans have only won one game all season, a 4-2 victory over Norwich City at Villa Park on the 19th August.

Meanwhile, Birmingham City have had an even worse start to the season and occupy 22nd spot in the division having picked up just four points from their first seven games.

The Blues’ 2-0 loss to Leeds United at Elland Road on Tuesday night meant it was four consecutive league losses for Harry Redknapp’s men, a truly awful run of form for a side that is full of new signings.

So, out of the two Midlands rivals, who actually has a better chance of obtaining a top six finish come May?

Is it Birmingham, who have a market value of £34.79m according to Transfermarkt, or is it Aston Villa who’s market value is a sizeable £84.15m.
