Derby County recorded their second league victory in quick succession last Sunday as they dispatched of their fellow play-off dark horse Blackburn Rovers at Pride Park, with a Louie Sibley goal and Chris Martin brace putting Rovers to the sword. 

The result represents the latest highlight of the club's strong run of form under Phillip Cocu recently, as the Rams continue to make up ground on the top six as we head into the final few knockings of what has been an intriguing Championship season.

One player who has certainly stood out for the Pride Park side in recent weeks and more considerably against Blackburn at the weekend is teenage midfielder Louie Sibley, with the youngster having put in some bright showings for the first team after stepping up from the club's academy.

After notching his first senior goal for his boyhood club, we decided to break down the numbers of his performance against Rovers and assess just how good the youngster can really be in our latest FLW Spotlight article....

The young playmaker got the Rams off to a brilliant start on Sunday as he took full advantage of the ball falling loosely to him around about 25 yards out from goal, with the 18-year-old unleashing a rasping drive which flew past Christian Walton in the Rovers goal to put the home side ahead after 26 minutes gone.

Throughout the contest, Sibley posed a strong threat from long distance for the home side, striking two shots on target throughout the afternoon as he seeked to add to his tally.

In terms of keeping possession, Sibley managed to rack up a pass accuracy of 73% for the Rams, often linking the play well between the likes of Graeme Shinnie and Max Bird in the deeper midfield roles and the club's forward players.

In addition to attempting to create chances through the use of his passing range, the young starlet also showed a high tendency to dribble forward with the ball, with his success rate of 83% underlining his ability to maintain possession of the ball for long periods whilst also moving into more threatening areas.

The 18-year-old also done his bit defensively for the Rams, completing three ball recoveries during the game, often dropping in to form a midfield three alongside Bird and Shinnie when his side were out of possession.

Following what was a great all round display, it is fair to say that this is just the start for a player who is still very much learning his trade in the professional game after breaking through from the club's youth ranks.
