Sheffield Wednesday have recently been linked with a move for Sunderland midfielder, Lee Cattermole according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (9th June, page 61).

But one man that could be fearing for his future if Cattermole was to arrive is Sam Hutchinson, who plays in a similar role to that of Cattermole.

In today's FLW Spotlight, we look into Hutchinson's statistics from last season in more detail.

Hutchinson and Cattermole both play similar roles in their teams, and Hutchinson will be fearing for his starting spot in Steve Bruce's side if Cattermole was to arrive at Hillsborough.

The Owls midfielder offers the ideal protection to the Sheffield Wednesday defence, and with an average of 2.5 tackles per game, it shows that he is a key player for Bruce's men.

With average of 2.2 interceptions and 1.6 aerial duels won per game, you have to feel as though Sheffield Wednesday would struggle.

But it's not just his off-the-ball work that has been impressive last season, as he makes an average of almost 36 passes per game.

With a pass success rate of 83.1%, it makes good reading if you're a Sheffield Wednesday supporter, who will surely feel as though Hutchinson is a better option to have in midfield ahead of Cattermole next season.

He also attempts an average of 2.5 long balls per game based off his 24 league appearances in their Championship campaign last season.

There's no doubting that Cattermole has his qualities off-the-field as well, but he is a midfielder that isn't at the top of his game, and is somewhat in decline.

An interesting summer awaits at Hillsborough, and it remains to be seen as to whether Sheffield Wednesday will submit a formal offer for Cattermole before the new season gets underway.
