Aston Villa have been on a remarkable run of form over the last month, winning their last four straight matches to put themselves in with a great chance of making the play-offs.

Big wins against Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Birmingham City and Middlesbrough have turned what looked like an ailing season into an exciting one once again.

One player who has been crucial in that turnaround has been Tyrone Mings, proving a monstrous presence in the centre of defence since moving on loan from Bournemouth in January.

His form has been so good, along with partner Kortney Hause, that the continued absence of Axel Tuanzebe has almost been forgotten about.

But his name was brought back to the fore recently when it was reported by the Sun that Manchester United wanted to send him out on loan again, with Villa Park the preferred destination.

This should be music to the club’s ears.

The 21-year-old has been missing with an injury since mid-December but was in excellent form up until that point.

Signing Mings has helped fans forget about his absence, but considering they will probably find it tough to land the Bournemouth man permanently, having Tuanzebe ready to return is brilliant news.

Averaging just over four clearances per game and winning around three aerial duels per game points to a defender capable of doing the dirty work at the back, whilst completing 82% of his passes makes him perfect for a Dean Smith side.
