Luton Town managed an 18th clean sheet of the season yesterday afternoon, debating Cardiff City 1-0 in South Wales.

Harry Cornick's 71st minute header proved to be the difference between the two sides at the Cardiff City Stadium, with the forward meeting Robert Snodgrass' perfectly-placed delivery.

In what was a tightly-contested and competitive 90 minutes for the Bedfordshire club, they secured a second 1-0 victory in succession, following their triumph against Nottingham Forest on Friday.

The downside of yesterday's victory was the number of injuries that were picked up, with James Bree, James Shea and Fred Onyedinma all being forced off through injury.

However, one of many positives from the clash was the performance of Reece Burke, with the central defender impressing once again following a period on the sidelines in late March and early into this month,

Here, we use Wyscout to determine whether the stats back up the performance on the eye...

Defensive analysis

Burke won 82% of his defensive duels against a physical Cardiff frontline, whilst he won 75% of his aerial duels too.

The 25-year-old also won all four of his loose ball duels, showing excellent levels of anticipation and determination throughout the 90 minutes.

Further backing up his good displays of anticipation, Burke also made four interceptions, whilst he cleared the ball six times.

Attacking focus

Recording a shot on target, Burke possessed an expected goals figure of 0.11 yesterday, 0.05 higher than his average for the campaign.

The 25-year-old also had two touches in the penalty area, whilst he also embarked on one progressive run during the 90 minutes.

Passing assessment

Burke left the Cardiff City Stadium with an 84% success rate when it came to his passing, almost 10% higher than his season average thus far.

The towering defender also was successful with his one cross in the game, with crossing emerging as a feature of his game.

When playing as a right-sided central defender, Burke likes to drive forward with the ball, with his ability to deliver a cross improving as the season has progressed.

Further showing his desire to get forward from his defensive position, Burke was successful with four out of five passes into the final third.
