Leeds United will go into the summer with an alarming sense of uncertainty looming over Elland Road.

The Whites hopes of winning promotion to the Premier League were ended in heartbreaking fashion last week, losing to Derby County in the play-off semi-final in what was a sensational battle in Yorkshire.

Marcelo Bielsa's side had led 2-0 on aggregate at one stage of the night, but goals from Harry Wilson, Mason Mount and Jack Marriott meant that Frank Lampard left Elland Road with the last laugh.

Now, it's a case of dusting themselves down and going again next season for Leeds, who will be praying that they can keep hold of Marcelo Bielsa beyond this season.

The Argentine's future with the club is currently up in the air, but even if the experienced coach does stay at Elland Road, he will find it very difficult to keep hold of Leeds' most important players, given the season they have had.

Kalvin Phillips certainly fits the bill of being an important player for Leeds, but with the likes of Norwich City and AFC Bournemouth reportedly chasing his signature, we take a look at whether keeping him is the club's most important business of the summer in today's FLW Spotlight...

If there was ever a perfect Marcelo Bielsa player, Phillips is certainly that man. The 23-year old has played mostly in central midfield this season, but has also been a key player in defence when the formation has been switched to a back three.

Phillips is known for his defensive work, but going forward, he scored one goal and produced three assists for the Whites this season.

The tenacious midfielder is the master at breaking up play, completing an average of 2.6 tackles per game and thriving in Bielsa's high-intensity style of football.

Phillips plays a crucial role in connecting the defence with midfield, and is a vital cog in Bielsa's side. The holding midfielder has accrued a pass success rate of 82.1% this season, completing 58.5 passes per game and 4.6 long balls per game too.

At 23 years of age, you feel that Phillips will only get better and will definitely play in the Premier League in the near future - and Leeds fans will be hoping that that will be at Elland Road rather than at Carrow Road...
