Stoke City know they will face a battle to keep hold of several key players this summer, which is the reality for any relegated sides.

The likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Jack Butland seem certain to depart once they return from the World Cup but Joe Allen's future is less sure.

Given his talent, many expected he would be out the door too, yet recent reports suggested he might sign a new deal at the bet365 Stadium.

However, there will still be Premier League interest in the former Liverpool player and Newcastle could be an ideal destination for the Wales international.

Rafa Benitez has done a fine job with the north east side and will be looking for quality additions to strengthen the squad for a second successive season in the top-flight.

And, as our graphic shows, Allen would add a lot to the Newcastle midfield.

The 28-year old has a good all-round game, making 2.7 tackles per game, 1.2 dribbles and having an impressive 81% pass success rate, whilst he also weighed in with six assists and two goals.

When you consider these stats came at a relegated side, it highlights the ability that Allen has.

He is also a hardworking player and could form an effective partnership with Jonjo Shelvey in the middle of the park that enables the Magpies to control games.

Stoke will be hoping that they manage to keep hold of their key man but the reality is Joe Allen is a Premier League player and he would add a lot to the Newcastle team.
