Huddersfield Town will be looking to put the disappointment of their play-off final defeat to Nottingham Forest behind them next season by launching another push for promotion.

The Terriers suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Reds at Wembley Stadium as their hopes of securing a return to the Premier League were dashed.

With the transfer window set to open on June 10th, Huddersfield head coach Carlos Corberan will already be looking at potential targets who he believes will be able to help the club achieve a great deal of success in the second-tier later this year.

Corberan will also need to make some decisions regarding the futures of some of the current members of his squad in the coming months.

Now that the 2021/22 campaign has officially concluded for Football League sides, we have decided to take a look at eight transfer scenarios that might play out at Huddersfield.

Check them out below!

According to a Patreon report from journalist Alan Nixon, Huddersfield are closing in on sealing a deal for Will Boyle on a free transfer.

The defender's current contract at Cheltenham Town is set to expire in June and it is believed that he is keen to prove his worth in the Championship.

During the previous campaign, Boyle made 31 appearances for the Robins in League One and managed to average a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.88 at this level.

Rolando Aarons only made one appearance for Huddersfield last season as he missed a considerable chunk of action due to injury.

With there being no guarantee that the winger will be able to retain his fitness over the course of the 2022/23 campaign, it could be argued that the Terriers ought to consider the possibility of moving him on this summer.

Given that Aarons' current deal is set to run until 2023, Huddersfield could potentially secure a reasonable fee for him if he attracts interest from elsewhere.

Having missed out on promotion to the Premier League, the Terriers may now face a battle to keep Lewis O'Brien at the club.

A recent report from The Sun suggested that Leeds United were weighing up a fresh approach for the midfielder who is understood to have a £10m release clause in his current contract.

Huddersfield may end up losing O'Brien this summer which would be a major blow as he featured on 46 occasions for the club in the Championship last season and excelled at this particular level.

As per a separate Patreon report from Nixon, Huddersfield are believed to be interested in signing James McAtee from Manchester City.

The Terriers could face competition for the midfielder as Swansea City and Southampton have also been touted as potential suitors

McAtee managed to score 17 goals and provide seven assists for City's Under-23 outfit in the Premier League 2 Division 1 last season and will unquestionably be keen to feature regularly at senior level next season.

Another defender who has recently been linked with a move to Huddersfield is Ryan Tafazolli.

According to The Sun, the Terriers are interested in signing the Wycombe Wanderers man this summer.

Tafazolli's current contract at Adams Park is set to expire in June and thus he will be available on a free transfer if fresh terms are not agreed in the coming weeks.

It is understood that the defender wants to seal a move to a Championship side in order to boost his chances of sealing a place in Iran's squad for the World Cup.

When you consider that Levi Colwill hasn't ruled out the possibility of returning to Huddersfield for another loan spell, the Championship outfit will be trying to convince Chelsea to sanction another temporary exit for the defender.

Any potential move will depend on whether Blues manager Thomas Tuchel is willing to give Colwill the chance to impress in the Premier League next season.

During his recent spell with the Terriers, the 19-year-old managed to show some real signs of promise as he made 32 appearances for the Terriers in all competitions.

Corberan could opt to sanction another loan move for Kieran Phillips this summer if he doesn't believe that the forward will be able to make an impact in the Championship next season.

During the previous campaign, the 22-year-old featured for Walsall and Exeter City in League Two.

Phillips scored a combined total of six goals at this level for these two aforementioned sides as he only managed to illustrate glimpses of his talent.

A move to another team in a lower division may be exactly what the forward needs at this stage of this career.

Another individual who could potentially benefit from a temporary move away from the John Smith's Stadium this summer is Aaron Rowe.

The 21-year-old missed a considerable chunk of the previous campaign due to injury and only made one appearance for the club's senior side in the Championship.

In order to prevent Rowe's development from stalling, it could be argued that Huddersfield ought to consider making him available for a loan transfer in the upcoming window.
