The 2022 summer transfer window looks well set to be a rather eventful one at Bradford City.

Following a rather underwhelming 2021/22 season that saw the club fall well short of an expected push for promotion, with an eventual 14th place finish in the League Two table, the pressure will be on to improve significantly next time around.

Of course, this will also be Mark Hughes' first transfer window since being appointed as the club's manager back in February, and he will no doubt be keen to put his own mark on the side.

Indeed, business is already well underway at Valley Parade, with Matty Platt, Jake Young, Jamie Walker, Ryan East and Harry Lewis all already confirmed to be joining the club this summer.

But with plenty of work still to be done, we've taken a look at eight Bradford City transfer scenarios we could see play out over the course of the window, right here.

One player whose future plans Bradford will be keen to know about sooner rather than later, is Paudie O'Connor.

The Bantams captain won two of the club's Player of the Year awards at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, but is now out of contract at Valley Parade, and although Bradford have offered him a new deal, it would be no surprise to see interest emerge from elsewhere.

As a result, the League Two side will no doubt be desperate to try and secure a new for the centre back quickly, or the pressure will be on them to find a suitable replacement.

Another player who finds himself in a similar situation to O'Connor with regards to his future at Bradford, is Elliot Watt.

The midfielder is another who impressed during the 2021/22 campaign, as a regular fixture in the centre of the park for the Bantams, but is now out of contract at Valley Parade.

Again, he has been offered a new deal, but with interest from elsewhere a possibility - Norwich were linked back in the January transfer window -  the 22-year-old is another who Bradford could have a battle on their hands for when it comes to retaining his services.

It is possible that Bradford will look to use the presence of a high profile manager such as Hughes at Valley Parade to their advantage this summer.

Having worked at a number of clubs further up the pyramid as both a player and manager, there are contacts the Bantams boss may be able to exploit, with goalkeeper Harry Lewis already joining from Hughes' former club Southampton.

The chance to work with a manager such as Hughes could also be appealing for some targets, which could help make this a rather exciting window for those of a Bradford persuasion.

It could also be argued that there will be something of a youthful look to Bradford's recruitment over the summer.

With the exception of Jamie Walker - who has made a loan move from Hearts permanent - all of the signings already made by Bradford as the market gets underway, are under the age of 25.

That could suggest that the Bantams are looking to keep the long term prospects in mind when getting their recruitment done this summer, something that could potentially have a say in the signings they pursue in the coming months.

While Walker's loan move to Bradford has already been made permanent, it is possible he will not be the only loanee the club look to secure a fresh agreement with in the coming months.

Winger Dion Pereira and goalkeeper Alex Bass both impressed after joining on temporary deals in January from Luton and Portsmouth respectively, so could be useful assets for the Bantams again next season.

That is something that means Bradford may be keeping a close eye on the situation at those clubs in the summer, to see if their transfer business could open the door to another potential move for those players.

One other former Bradford loanee the club could be looking to bring back to Valley Parade in the summer, is George Miller.

The striker enjoyed an impressive season on loan in League Two with Walsall in 2021/22, scoring 12 goals in 41 league games for the Saddlers, leading to some reports of interest in the 23-year-old from Bradford.

With Miller having subsequently been released by parent club Barnsley this summer, it does seem as though opportunity may now have arisen for Bradford to exploit their interest, and bring the striker back to Valley Parade.

Another free agent signing that Bradford could find themselves in a battle for this summer, is Matt Butcher.

The midfielder is set to leave League One side Accrington Stanley when his contract expires at the end of this month, and it has been reported that Bradford are one of the clubs who are interested in signing the 25-year-old.

However, Scottish Premiership duo Motherwell and St Mirren have also been credited with an interest in the former Portsmouth man, meaning Bradford may be facing something of a challenge in their pursuit of Butcher.

Bradford released six senior players in their end of season retained list, but it is possible that there may be more departures to come in the next few weeks.

If the club are to bring in further recruits, as you feel they may need to do, then they may well need to move other players on, in order to create space in the squad and raise funds for those signings.

As a result, it may be understandable if Bradford were to give some considerable thought to any potential offers that may come in for certain members of their squad once the market has opened.
