Ipswich Town continue to lead the way in Sky Bet League One after a solid run of results of late.

The Tractor Boys have overcome a mini blip in the third tier and currently sit one point clear at the top of the league, having won three of their last four matches.

Paul Lambert's side are certainly looking like they are back on track, after what was an uncertain festive period for the club which even resulted in the Scot questioning his future at Portman Road.

But Lambert will now be looking to add fresh faces to his squad in the final week of the transfer window, as he looks to bolster his side in their bid for automatic promotion.

On a number of occasions this season, Lambert has been left frustrated after not being able to land transfer targets and seeing deals take far too long to complete.

This week, though, the Scottish boss will have to identify the right targets and bring them in as soon as possible, if Town are going to improve and look strong contenders for promotion.

Here, we take a look at eight players who should be on Ipswich's radar this week, as deadline day looms...

Although he is a technically an Ipswich player at present, Town should look to get Garbutt signed up permanently ASAP.

The Everton loanee has turned out to be an outstanding addition for the Tractor Boys since arriving on loan from Goodison Park in the summer, and it would be a real boost to sign him for good.

The full-back has scored six goals and produced his third assist of the season against Lincoln at the weekend, so he is clearly an invaluable player in the final third too.

It would be a big boost and relief to have him at Portman Road for good.

If Ipswich fail to meet Everton demands and aren't able to secure Garbutt's future for whatever reason, then Mills could be an excellent signing for Town.

The wing-back has been a key player for Forest Green Rovers over the past couple of seasons, and helped the Gloucestershire club reach the League Two semi-finals last term.

This year, Mills has scored eight goals and six assists for Mark Cooper's side, and is currently their leading goalscorer for the side chasing a play-off finish in the fourth tier.

He is excellent at going forward and going backwards, and would be a shrewd addition for Town.

With Blackpool recently been linked with a move for Jon Nolan, there could be a need to replace him with another creative player in the middle of the park.

Josh Laurent could be a shrewd addition for the Tractor Boys - the 24-year-old has scored four goals from midfield for Shrewsbury this season, and performed superbly well against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday.

He is an industrious, box-to-box midfielder who could be an excellent signing for Ipswich.

If the Tractor Boys are looking for that loan deal that would see them get over the line this season, then Rekeem Harper could be a tremendous acquisition.

The 19-year-old made 23 appearances in all competitions as the Baggies narrowly missed out on promotion to the top-flight last term.

But this season, Harper has been unable to make an impact under Slaven Bilic, making only three first-team appearances for the West Midlands side.

Bilic has recently refused to rule out a loan move away from The Hawthorns for Harper, and a League One promotion on his CV could really help reignite his career.

If Laurent remains at Shrewsbury, then Law could also be another exciting player for Ipswich to consider.

The creative midfielder has been influential in helping Exeter compete for automatic promotion in League Two, scoring seven goals and adding seven assists from midfield.

He is an experienced professional who can play in the hole or as a box-to-box midfielder, and he would be a shrewd addition for Town.

Clough hasn't made an appearance for Forest in over two years and is in desperate need of reigniting his once promising career, and Ipswich could be a good move for him.

The attacking midfielder hardly set the world alight on loan at Rochdale last term, but under a no-nonsense manager like Paul Lambert, he could thrive at Portman Road.

Sunderland have recently been linked with the midfielder, so it would be a coup to beat another promotion rival to his signature, even on loan.

Whilst James Norwood and Kayden Jackson have both been on fire for Ipswich this season, there is the argument that adequate back-up is needed to keep them on their toes,

Will Keane has hardly been prolific this season, too, so a new option could well be considered this final week of the window.

Elliot Lee could be a player of interest - the Luton Town attacker has scored only one goal in eight games this season, but was hugely impressive in League One last term.

His contract is set to run out in the summer, though, therefore a deal could definitely be possible.

Another Luton player, Danny Hylton, is also out of contract at Kenilworth Road at the end of the season, and could be a solid signing for Ipswich.

The 30-year-old has scored 58 goals in 118 games for the Hatters since arriving from Oxford United in 2016, and was prolific as they won promotion from League Two in 2018.

He deserves another crack at life in League One, and Ipswich could cause nuisance with an offer this month as his contract approaches its expiry date.

Luton boss Graeme Jones has confirmed that Hylton could even be loaned out this month, so that could well be a possibility for Ipswich.
