Phillip Cocu has endured a frustrating January window so far and the Derby County boss will be desperate for a few new faces to come in before Friday's transfer deadline.

The Dutchman has made it clear that he wants reinforcements in order to help the team up the table and he will be hoping for multiple additions in the coming days.

Whilst some may disagree, it seems the priority for Derby is bringing in a centre-back and an attacker, although there are other areas that could be improved if the right player comes along.

And, here we look at EIGHT players who the East Midlands outfit should be targeting as they look to close that nine-point gap on the top six...

Ben Hamer has done pretty well since replacing Kelle Roos but they could still find an upgrade and Foderingham represents a better long-term option.

The Rangers stopper is not getting regular football at Ibrox and the chance to play elsewhere will appeal. Plus, he is good on the ball which is what Cocu wants as he builds from the back.

As mentioned, centre-back is a position that needs to be addressed and Benkovic is known to be a target.

The Croatian would seriously improve the Derby team and he showed with Celtic that he is a class act. Even though he's only on loan, he could transform the team over the next few months.

This may seem like an ambitious move but the French World Cup winner has been linked with a move to Pride Park and it would be a major coup for the Championship side.

Rami would provide experience, know-how and most importantly would be a dominant player at this level.

Some fans wouldn't be too excited by bringing in Vaulks but Krystian Bielik's injury has left the team short in the middle of the park.

The Cardiff man is energetic, reliable and could do a job this season. He wouldn't command a big fee and could make a positive impact.

Freeman has been linked with a move to rivals Nottingham Forest so it would be tough to convince him to come to Derby but it would be a great addition for Cocu and he would suit Derby's system perfectly.

The ex-QPR man has proven himself in the Championship over the years and is a classy performer who would bring goals and assists.

This would be another tough deal to finalise but Derby could probably offer bigger wages than the Robins and there's no denying that can influence any players decision.

And, with 18 months left on his deal at Ashton Gate, Bristol City may have to accept a suitable offer this month.

Eliasson is a clear upgrade on what they have and has registered ten assists already this season.

Peterborough are determined to keep League One's top scorer but they are a club who have shown in the past that they will sell for the right price.

So, Derby should go all out for Toney as he is a striker that has it all. He is physically strong, can link play and has now added end product on a consistent basis. He could easily handle the step up and will hope to keep improving.

Finally, we look at a familiar face, with Vydra having been impressive for Derby over the years.

He can't get a game for Burnley right now and although the Rams will face competition for the Czech international, his connection with the club may given them an advantage and he would be the regular goalscorer that Cocu's men are lacking right now.
