Ipswich Town are once again facing up to the prospect of spending yet another season in League One, with Paul Cook's men having fallen short in the play-off race in recent weeks as they continually struggle to score goals.

The Tractor Boys have now gone four games in a row without scoring and as a result have fallen four points behind sixth place Oxford United at the time of writing.

Games against the likes of Northampton Town, AFC Wimbledon and Swindon Town offer the chance to gain a reprieve but it may well be a case of too little, too late for the Suffolk side as they continue to fall way below expectations.

Widescale changes are therefore expected to the playing squad this summer, with Cook eager to offload the deadwood as soon as an opportunity arises.

Here, we take a look at EIGHT players who are or should be on Ipswich Town's transfer radar for this summer.

The Sunderland striker has struggled to hit form ever since he made his much publicised move to the Stadium of Light and could well be on the move this summer as he searches for a new club where he will be a guaranteed starter after falling out of favour under Lee Johnson.

Ipswich are one of many clubs who have been linked with a move for frontman in recent weeks, with the player currently thriving on loan at MK Dons in League One as he bids to rediscover his form.

Cook would no doubt love to be reunited with a player who bought him so much personal success at Wigan Athletic.

Another League One striker who could well be of interest to the Tractor Boys during the summer, Pigott has been in stunning form for AFC Wimbledon once again this season and is quite rightly considered to be one of the best strikers outside of England's top two divisions.

His contract is set to expire come the summer and the fact that he is now well into his prime as a professional would suggest that he will consider every option that comes his way in a few months time.

A move to Portman Road would surely appeal to the Kent based player.

A player who continues to perform consistently for one of Paul Cook's former clubs, Portsmouth, Williams is one of the more high profile names who has a contract that is running down towards expiry at Fratton Park and as a result he could be set for a move away from the South Coast this summer.

He would offer the Tractor Boys considerable experience in the final third of the field and he has shown on numerous occasions that he is versatile to operate anywhere along the frontline, with the winger sometimes even being used as a shadow striker on occasion.

Another Portsmouth player who could be on Ipswich's radar this summer, Whatmough has bounced back from injury brilliantly at Fratton Park and continues to be one of the best players outside the top two divisions in England.

A ball playing centre back by trade, the 24-year-old would fit in perfectly to the way in which Cook wants his side to play and would also provide a solid partner for the likes of Luke Woolfenden along the backline.

His contract is up this summer which could mean that the Tractor Boys could well snare him away from the South Coast for nothing.

Another defensive player who could be on Cook's radar this summer is Feyenoord's George Johnston, with the young defender having impressed out on loan at Wigan Athletic this term.

A player who originally came through Liverpool's youth system before making the move to Holland, Johnston is the type of centre back that Cook likes to have at his disposal and it is therefore no surprise to see that the Tractor Boys have been linked with a move for his services in more recent times as the weigh up bringing in reinforcements for the backline.

A young age and low cost of transfer fee could see this deal go through.

The St Johnstone frontman is yet another striker who the Tractor Boys have been linked with since Cook's arrival at Portman Road and he could be a cheap option that they turn too this summer as they bid to solve their goalscoring woes.

The Israeli marksman has shone north of the border and has proven to be a big hit after arriving at the club back in October of last year.

As a result of this, Ipswich have come sniffing around for the 28-year-old and would no doubt view him as the perfect replacement for Kayden Jackson, who continues to be linked with a move away.

Another attacking player that Ipswich could well move for is Alex Gilliead, with the winger having previously been linked with a move to Portman Road back in March as his contract at Scunthorpe United continues to run down towards expiry at Glanford Park.

Town are said to be monitoring the 25-year-old's situation as they weigh up whether to make a move for his services or not and will no doubt view him as a good alternative to Gwion Edwards on the right hand side of midfield.

Low cost options could be the way forwards for the club this summer and therefore Gilliead may appeal to them.

Eastleigh striker Ben House has also been talked about as a player that Ipswich are said to hold an interest in signing this summer and he could be a good side option for Cook to consider in the market after his exploits in non league after leaving Reading last year.

He has since enjoyed a good level of form in Hampshire with the National League side and could well play himself back into contention for a return to the Football League with the Tractor Boys this summer.

Still aged just 21, House would provide a great option for the future.
