There was a lot of criticism placed on the AFC Bournemouth hierarchy when they decided to replace Jason Tindall with Jonathan Woodgate in February, with the expectation that a more experienced manager was coming in to try and get the Cherries into the Premier League.

After all though, it hasn't worked out too badly despite a shaky start to the former Real Madrid defender's reign at the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth are on a six-match winning run which has propelled them back into the play-off picture, the latest victory coming over the already promoted Norwich City.

The Cherries will probably be the form team by the time the play-offs come around, but there's no guarantee that they'll return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

It's incredibly hard to weigh up who Bournemouth could and should be looking to bring in this summer considering we don't know what division they'll be in, but here are eight names that could be on the radar.

Asmir Begovic was welcomed back into the Cherries fold this season after spending the second half of last season on loan at A.C. Milan, and he's been an ever-present in-between the sticks for Bournemouth.

However he's out of contract at the end of this season and he will no doubt have to take a big wage cut if he is to remain on the south coast, so there's every chance the club look at other options.

One goalkeeper who is attracting interest from Championship clubs is Daniel Iversen, who is right now the standout performer for Preston North End having joined in January from Leicester City.

The Dane is going on an upward trajectory in terms of his development and should Begovic depart this summer, Iversen could be a good replacement.

With Steve Cook's contract yet to be renewed yet, Bournemouth have just two centre-backs signed up for next season, so that's a position where they could be looking to bolster in the summer.

A player that has excelled in the Championship for the last few seasons for Millwall is Jake Cooper, who at the height of nearly 6 ft 7 in is a presence in both boxes.

He can also play the ball out from the back though and dribble with it up the pitch, so it is a unique set of skills for someone so tall and he could be a player that the Cherries need next season.

It's one that would probably make more sense in the Championship rather than the Premier League, however Cooper is definitely worth a punt for either division - he wouldn't be cheap though no doubt.

Barnsley have been the surprise package of the whole Championship season, with Valerien Ismael managing to get the best out his squad and a play-off position looks a big possibility.

One of the standout players of the campaign has been Michal Helik, who was hardly known when he arrived at Oakwell back in September.

But he's emerged as one of the best signings of the whole season, scoring five goals for the Tykes and has been a general colossus at the back.

His Poland international debut came this year and his performances mean he's destined for the Premier League, and if the Cherries go up at the expense of Barnsley, he should be on their shopping list.

Right-back is a position that Bournemouth may have to look at this summer, as Adam Smith's expiring contract means that a gap may need to be filled.

Smith provides good versatility by being able to play on both sides of the pitch and there's every chance he renews, but a player that should be looked at as a potential replacement is Nyambe.

Blackburn's Namibia international is out of contract at the end of the season and they look set to let the 23-year-old leave in order to try and get a better transfer fee via tribunal.

Nyambe definitely has some development to do still at both ends of the pitch, but he's a threat going forward and for the right price - and it won't be a massive one - Bournemouth could do a lot worse.

Looking at midfield options now and Bournemouth do look quite strong here, with the likes of Jefferson Lerma, Phil Billing, Ben Pearson and Lewis Cook all under contract.

Jack Wilshere's future remains to be seen and Cook may be injured for the rest of 2021, so Bournemouth could be looking for alternatives in the engine room and Gallagher could be an interesting name to pursue.

The 21-year-old has been out on loan from Chelsea for the last two years and he's made 24 Premier League appearances for West Brom this season, and the Blues may be willing to let him depart for a price and sell-on clause if they don't see a way through into the first-team for him.

He could definitely fit in at the Cherries and make them look even stronger, but this would probably only happen if promotion was achieved.

Bournemouth look really strong on the flanks, with Arnaut Danjuma and David Brooks both extremely talented players, and both seem destined for Premier League football next season.

But strength in depth is massive in the top flight and Liverpool will probably be looking for a club for Harvey Elliott to join next season to continue his development, having gained lots of experience at Blackburn Rovers this season.

Danjuma and Brooks are likely to attract transfer attention in pre-season, and realistically Bournemouth could probably cash in on one of them for a big fee and replace them with Elliott for a season.

If they don't go up through the play-offs then Bournemouth's duo will almost certainly be cashed in on - would they still be able to tempt the Reds to give them Elliott for a season? It would be an interesting move for sure.

The £19 million that Bournemouth spent on Dominic Solanke in 2019 has seemed awfully expensive, with the former Chelsea and Liverpool man scoring just three times in his first season-and-a-half at the Vitality Stadium.

He's come to life in the Championship though by netting 14 times, but the strike-force can be strengthened and Kieffer Moore should be a target should promotion be achieved.

The Wales international is a completely different kind of striker to Solanke - he's a real target man who can feed in the wingers and attacking midfielders, which would be a delight for the likes of Danjuma.

17 goals for Cardiff this season have propelled Moore to become one of the best strikers at this level and he could be a real option for Premier League teams next season - including potentially Bournemouth.

Should the worst happen and promotion not happen, then Clarke-Harris may be at the top of the list when it comes to new strikers.

Local reports linked the Cherries to the Peterborough striker in early March, and Posh director of football Barry Fry confirmed weeks later that the club made a big play for the 26-year-old in the January transfer window.

That suggests that there could be a renewed interest come the summer in Clarke-Harris, whose goal record in League One now stands at 28 goals in 41 appearances.

There's likely to be a number of clubs interested and he will command a big fee, but Clarke-Harris could very well be worth it.
