Paul Lambert will be hoping to be a busy man in the January transfer window, as he prepares to add fresh faces to his Ipswich Town squad.

The Tractor Boys started the season off in impressive style, winning eight of their first 11 matches and losing only two of their opening 15 games.

But Lambert's side have gone off the boil in recent weeks and haven't picked up a win in their last four games, which has let Wycombe generate a gap at the top of the table.

The Chairboys now sit seven points clear of Ipswich at the summit of the league standings, with Town now just one point ahead of third place, albeit with a game in hand.

You feel that Ipswich's squad needs bolstering and needs freshening up next month if they are to maintain their fight for promotion, and Lambert has hinted at potential incomings.

Can you score 16 out of 16 on this Ipswich quiz?

Here, we take a look at eight players Ipswich should have on their radar...

Sam Winnall could be a real coup for the Tractor Boys.

The 28-year-old has struggled to cement a place in Garry Monk's side this season, despite things looking like they were on the up for him after scoring against Huddersfield in September.

Having featured just once since October, a loan move could do Winnall the world of good having fallen behind Steven Fletcher, Atdhe Nuhiu and Jordan Rhodes in the pecking order.

Davis has struggled for regular game time under Dean Smith since Aston Villa won promotion to the Premier League.

The 21-year-old has made six appearances in the Premier League and made a further three appearances in the Carabao Cup, but regular game time is what he needs at his age.

He is a powerful, pacey forward who could be of use to the Tractor Boys.

Kayden Jackson and James Norwood have both been on fire for Ipswich this season, scoring 15 goals between them respectively.

But you feel as if the duo need back-up if they are to maintain their fight for promotion, with Will Keane scoring only two goals this term.

Danny Rose could be an excellent signing for Ipswich - the 26-year-old has scored eight goals for Mansfield Town this season, and attracted interest from League One in the summer.

He is a proven goalscorer in League Two and is more than capable of stepping up a league, scoring 34 goals in 86 games.

Smith could also be another shrewd addition for the Tractor Boys - the 21-year-old has enjoyed an impressive spell away from Reading this term.

The towering forward has scored seven goals on loan for Cambridge United this season, and has shown signs of being able to step up a division.

Reading may want him to test himself in League One after thriving in League Two, and a fight for promotion in League One could be beneficial for his development.

Moving into midfield where Ipswich also lack quality, Rekeem Harper could be a great addition for Ipswich.

The 19-year-old was a key player under Darren Moore and Jimmy Shan last season, featuring regularly as the Baggies narrowly missed out on promotion.

But the midfielder has made just one league appearance under Slaven Bilic this term, and he needs to playing week in week out at this stage of his career.

Rea could add some real steel to the midfield.

The 25-year-old was sent out on loan to National League side Woking for a month after sustaining a serious knee injury, and has since made one appearance for Luton since returning.

He featured in a 3-0 defeat to Stoke City but looked like he desperately needed game time. He knows what it takes to be successful at this level having made 27 appearances when the Hatters won promotion last term.

Moving into defence and Kean Bryan could add some real depth to the Ipswich squad.

The versatile defender, who can also operate as a holding midfielder, has made just three appearances since signing for Sheffield United in 2018.

Having played just twice for the Blades this season, Chris Wilder's side will want Bryan to play regularly, and a loan move could be a smart choice.

Ipswich do need to think about signing a goalkeeper when Will Norris returns to Wolves in the summer, and Jordan Smith could be a decent addition at Portman Road.

The goalkeeper is yet to make an appearance under Sabri Lamouchi this season, and hasn't featured for the Reds since January 2018.

The 24-year-old spent the second-half of last season on loan at Mansfield Town, and helped the Stags reach the play-off semi-finals before being defeated by Newport.

He is desperate for game time and he will be eager to fight for the number one jersey.
