Coventry City have enjoyed a decent season so far and Mark Robins' side are firmly in the mix for a top six finish come May.

However, a three-game winless run has seen the side drop out of the play-off places and there is a feeling that January could be coming at just the right time for the Sky Blues.

Unfortunately though, Robins is going to have to search for bargains and loan deals, with the club not capable of backing him with serious funds to sustain this promotion push.

Nevertheless, several players will be on the radar of the boss and here we look at EIGHT players Robins should be considering...

Whilst central defence isn't a priority for Coventry, they could still do with an additional option in an ideal world and Dara O'Shea would be a good signing.

The West Brom youngster would be open to a loan move because he isn't going to get games at The Hawthorns but he has shown with Ireland's U21 side that he is a real talent.

A left-back will only be needed if Sam McCallum finalises a move away from the club - something that could happen with Liverpool interested.

And, Leeds United's Leif Davis would be a good replacement. He has similar attacking instincts and has the ability to thrive in League One.

Midfield is another area that doesn't desperately need addressing but the versatile Kane would help the squad a lot as the fixtures pile up.

He was one of the many Liverpool youngsters to feature in the League Cup in the week and he excelled at this level with Doncaster last season.

Coventry fans know all about the classy Nigerian and they would love to have him back after his loan spell last season.

A move to Wigan has not worked out for Enobakhare and the Sky Blues should be in Wolves' ear telling them that he could thrive again by working under Robins if he is recalled and it does look as though it would be a move that suits all parties.

The Midlands side will have to check the non-league scene and they have already been linked with a move for Stourbridge's Chay Tilt.

He is an exciting attacker who loves to run at players and would be hungry to prove himself at a higher level.

This would be an ambitious move for the Sky Blues but Willock is not featuring at all for West Brom and Benfica are likely to recall him in January and send him out on loan elsewhere.

The style of play adopted by Robins could help them on this front and landing the versatile forward on a temporary basis would be a major coup.

Coventry City through the decade: How much do you remember about the 2011/12 season?

Any fan will tell you that bringing in a striker has to be a priority and the highly-rated George Hirst could be a shrewd addition on loan from Leicester.

He needs to start playing regularly and has the physical attributes combined with the finishing ability to do well in the third tier.

Alternatively, Robins could look at Torquay's Jamie Reid.

His form this season has seen the 25-year-old establish himself as one of the best strikers outside the Football League and he is ready to make the step up.
