Norwich City will be preparing for life back in the Premier League this summer.

Daniel Farke's side are eight points clear at the top of the Championship and know that a win on the weekend will confirm their promotion back to the top flight, though they might have to wait a little while longer to be crowned title winners.

The Canaries were careful with their spending last time they were promoted, taking a different approach to many clubs, and given the current national and global circumstances you'd expect this summer will be no different.

That's not to say that Norwich won't spend any money, just that they're likely to be more disciplined than some of their predecessors.

It won't just be players arriving at Carrow Road this summer either as there's likely to be a fair amount of movement the other way.

With that in mind, we've outlined eight players that Norwich could sell or release ahead of a busy summer window...

Starting with the player that has taken centre stage for much of the 2020/21 campaign, it looks like it could be tough for Norwich to keep hold of Emi Buendia in the summer.

The Argentine has been in stunning form this term, scoring 12 goals and adding 16 as he's helped the Canaries prove they're a cut above the rest in the Championship.

That form hasn't gone unnoticed though, with Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Liverpool linked with a summer move, while LaLiga trio Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, and Villareal are also thought to be keen.

It is understood that should Norwich look to cash in, they'll look for north of £30 million.

Another player that has turned heads with his performances this term, Max Aarons has been linked with some big clubs.

Man United, Tottenham, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal have all been touted with an interest, and it may be hard to keep hold of the full-back should one of those sides come in for him.

The defender has been a key man once again this term and at 21, looks like he's got a very bright future ahead of him.

It is thought the sale of Aarons could earn Norwich in excess of £35 million in the upcoming transfer window. Big money.

Moving from two key players to the other end of the spectrum, we find outcasted Swiss striker Josip Drmic.

The 28-year-old has not featured for the Canaries since last season and clearly has no part in Farke's plans moving forward.

The Switzerland international currently on loan at Croatian side HNK Rijeka and though his contract at Carrow Road runs until 2022, it's hard to see him staying at the club beyond this summer.

Things haven't worked out for Drmic at Norwich and you feel they'll be few that are sad to see him go.

Another player that seems to have no place in Farke's plans, Moritz Leitner's last appearance for Norwich came in January 2020.

The German midfielder has been an outcast at Carrow Road this season but unlike Drmic, has not been sent out on loan.

Leitner's contract expires in 2022 but Norwich will surely be keen to offload him in the summer ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Getting his salary off their wage bill would be a boost, as it's the joint-ninth highest in the squad (Salary Sport).

They've tried to do just that in previous years and had no luck, however.

Örjan Nyland only joined the Canaries earlier this year, signing as a free agent in February after being released by Aston Villa last October.

The Norway international has not featured once for the senior side, with his few appearances for the U23s his only competitive contributions during his time at Carrow Road.

Nyland's deal with Norwich expires at the end of the season and it seems unlikely they'll extend it given he's not really proven himself over the past few months.

Goalkeeper is likely a position the Canaries will assess in the summer as they look for cover and competition for Tim Krul.

The playmaker was one of the bright lights from Norwich's last season in the Premier League – finishing with seven goals and two assists – and he's been a very useful attacking option for Farke again this term.

The Canaries will likely be hoping to keep hold of Todd Cantwell but he's been linked with a move away in previous windows, so it wouldn't be a surprise if there's more interest in the summer.

Leeds United are among the sides to have been linked in the past and if they make a significant offer then perhaps Norwich will feel it's best to cash in – particularly with his contract set to expire next summer.

Should Buendia leave, however, you feel the Norfolk club will likely do all they can to keep Cantwell.

Alexander Tettey has been little more than a bit-part player this season – playing just 361 minutes in the Championship.

The midfielder is out of contract in the summer, having signed an extension in February 2020, and at 35, you feel it could be the right time for Norwich to release him.

The Norway international has been a fantastic servant to the club, notching up 260 appearances in nine years at Carrow Road.

Many supporters will be sad to see the 35-year-old go but with a season in the Premier League ahead, it could be the right time to say goodbye.

Farke has promised that the club will look after him and revealed he is set for talks with him.

Another experienced head that could be on his way out of Carrow Road this term, Michael McGovern's current contract with the Canaries expires in the summer.

The goalkeeper has proven his worth this term, stepping in when Tim Krul was injured, but with Norwich set to return to the Premier League, you feel they may turn to the transfer market to find new competition and cover for their Dutch number one.

McGovern is 36 now but you feel he won't be too short of offers, having produced some quality performances this term.

He's only made 41 appearances in nearly five years at the club but he deserves credit for his contributions.
