Huddersfield Town are having to take it point by point in the fight for survival in the Championship under Carlos Corberan.

After early promise under the Spaniard, things have soured at the John Smith’s Stadium since the turn of the year and full focus is on just staying in the Championship this term.

Focus shouldn’t be drifting beyond that right now, but lurking around the corner is a huge summer transfer window for the Terriers.

There’s a high number of players out of contract heading into the summer and, simply, a section of them aren’t going to be carried into the new campaign by Corberan.

With that in mind, we’ve opted to take a closer look at some of the personnel that’s at real risk of not staying with Huddersfield beyond the current season…

The 33-year-old has been a really key performer under Corberan this season in the Championship and it isn’t his performance levels that mean he’s on this list.

Campbell has seven goals and three assists in 38 appearances this season, but his deal will be up in the summer and Huddersfield are yet to activate their 12-month option on those terms.

Football League World understand that Jordan Rhodes could be brought back to the John Smith’s Stadium in the summer, with the Sheffield Wednesday striker sharing a similar profile to Campbell, not least in terms of his age.

Does Corberan want two strikers of that ilk on board next season? And, simply, can he afford that?

Despite his importance this season, it might be Campbell that’s let go.

Another player at risk is inconsistent Bacuna.

The midfielder is another player that’s featured consistently in the Championship this season, but his contract situation mirrors Campbell’s.

Football League World understand that Huddersfield plan to extend Bacuna’s contract by a further 12 months, but he’s not completely free of risk.

That would allow Huddersfield the chance to sell Bacuna on for a fee in the summer, rather than losing him for free.

Like Campbell, he isn’t someone who would be first out of the door, but given there’s going to be change, he might be sacrificed to bolster options elsewhere in the squad.

Keogh was only brought to Huddersfield in the January transfer window, stepping back up into the Championship after a stint with MK Dons earlier in the season.

However, it was a short-term deal for Keogh at Huddersfield and he hasn’t exactly set the world alight since arriving at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The supporters of the club aren’t convinced by what he brings to the team and, given he’s the wrong side of 30 now, he might not be worth giving a new contract to in the summer.

It could, then, be a very short spell as a Huddersfield player for the experienced centre-back.

Another player who has only been with Huddersfield a short amount of time is Sanogo, who arrived as a free agent on the back of the January transfer window.

The striker has had an impact on the side, allowing Corberan to play a little bit more direct to a target man.

However, a striker’s remit is to score goals and Sanogo has failed to do that so far in a Huddersfield shirt.

Corberan needs players in his side that he can rely on to score goals in the Championship and, so far, Sanogo hasn’t convinced that he can do that.

Mbenza is going to be a player Huddersfield surely look to cut ties with as they aim to trim the wage bill at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The winger is an undoubted talent that offers a lot to Corberan’s side when they are playing well.

However, he’s expensive and, ultimately, a bit inconsistent.

All indications are that he will be on his way out of Huddersfield in the summer and won’t have his contract renewed.

Even if he does, it might be a similar situation to Bacuna where he is signed on and then sold so Huddersfield at least get something out of his departure.

It feels like it’s been a long goodbye for Pritchard at Huddersfield as he approaches the final months of his deal at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Pritchard has been an underwhelming player on the whole for the Huddersfield fans and it’s understood that he will be one player certainly on the move in the summer.

It does also seem like Pritchard will get a move elsewhere in the Championship, with Queens Park Rangers a club that are consistently named when the midfielder’s future comes into conversation.

Whether it is them or somebody else, it does seem like a fresh challenge awaits Pritchard in the summer.

An emotional goodbye feels like it is looming for Schindler and the Huddersfield Town supporters.

What the German centre-back has given the Terriers over the years cannot be matched by anyone in the current group of players at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Schindler excelled to get Huddersfield into the Premier League and then also impressed when playing in the top-flight.

Injury has ruined his final season with the club and, with his contract expiring in the summer, it looks like he will be on the move in the coming months.

It’ll be emotional, but Huddersfield are looking to move in a new direction.

A slightly different scenario here as Eiting is only a Huddersfield player on loan.

However, he’s still heading into the summer transfer window with uncertainty surrounding him.

Earlier in the season he scored three goals and registered three assists, impressing in Corberan’s midfield.

At that point, you’d have certainly looked to sign him permanently, but injury has hit and he’s been out of the side a while now.

It’ll be interesting to see what develops for the Dutchman, whether he returns to Ajax, heads back to Huddersfield on loan or a permanent agreement can be reached.

It’s one to watch.
