A busy summer transfer window could await Charlton Athletic this year with the Addicks yet to know which division they are going to be playing their football in.

Charlton have certainly picked up form in recent weeks under manager Nigel Adkins and the play-off race is firmly on with them looking to qualify for the top six by the end of the season.

Do that, and they'll be aiming for an immediate return to the Championship after coming down at the end of last season.

Either way, though, the summer window is going to be the first of Nigel Adkins' reign and he'll be eager to shape his squad with his own signings and, obviously, let some other players go that he does not see as part of his plans.

With that in mind, here are eight players that could leave the club in the summer transfer market in some kind of capacity for one reason or another...

Erhun Oztumer is out on loan at Bristol Rovers at the moment and has been for the whole season so there is every chance that he leaves Charlton permanently in the summer window.

Nigel Adkins, of course, might want to take a closer look at him at the Addicks' training ground over the off-season with Lee Bowyer sanctioning the exit last summer but, having said that, there's also a case he might want to move on without Oztumer.

Whether Bristol Rovers want to keep him or not, meanwhile, remains to be seen but he is a player that, at the right club, could shine.

James Vennings is still a very young player but he'll be wanting to know exactly what the plan is under Nigel Adkins for him.

The youngster featured under Lee Bowyer just a handful of times when needed and so the jury still seems rather out on whether he has a long-term future at the club.

Of course, with his age in mind there's still every chance he'll progress further at The Valley but he'll want to be playing more than he is and if there are no first-team assurances available to him, perhaps move would be of interest.

Time will tell.

Josh Davison falls into a similar category as Vennings with him out on loan at Forest Green this season as they try to achieve promotion from League Two via the play-offs.

He has three goals from 17 appearances in the fourth tier this season for Rovers and whether that is enough for Charlton and Adkins to think he should be involved more at The Valley next year will have to be discovered.

He's a young player again, of course, and so Charlton will have to predict his career trajectory at the moment with him also spending time on loan in non-league football in the past with the likes of Woking.

Nathan Harness is a young goalkeeper who has been involved with the matchday squad at times this season but his path to first-team football looks pretty blocked at the moment.

Ben Amos is the established number one at Charlton and he's had a pretty decent season whilst Ashley Maynard-Brewer is firmly the number two goalkeeper at the club right now.

Of course, Harness is still very young, particularly for a goalkeeper, but he may well want to be playing more than he has so he can start learning the ropes at senior level.

Some kind of deal could be sanctioned for him but only time will tell.

Ronnie Schwartz's signing sparked a bit of excitement as Charlton and Lee Bowyer had been chasing him for a while but he's never really got going for a couple of reasons.

A lack of game-time has been one as he's had to get up to full speed after not playing much before arriving in January whilst, to be fair to him, his family are still based in Denmark and he's not been able to see them thanks to current restrictions.

That must be tough for him and, though things next season may have eased and he can move them over, maybe he'll also opt to head back home? He's not played much under Adkins so far and we'll just have to see what happens.

Marcus Maddison is another player having a tough time at the moment.

He's announced that he's left Bolton to think about whether he wants to continue playing football anymore and, of course, if he decides he doesn't, Charlton will be letting him go.

Indeed, he may decide he wants a fresh start away from the Addicks anyway after a tough spell under Lee Bowyer and ultimately the ball is in his court with this situation.

He's a top talent but if his head and heart are not in the game anymore it's best for him to move on with his life and try and improve his mental state.

Deji Oshilaja is one of a handful of Charlton players whose contracts are up in the summer window and he has had interest in him already this season with fellow League One side Gillingham apparently looking at him back in the January window.

His future could well depend on what cover Charlton have at centre-back for next season, of course, with the likes of Akin Famewo on loan but it does seem as though there is a chance Oshilaja could make for the exit door in the summer window.

Again, it's a fluid situation so we'll have to see what happens.

Ben Watson is another coming to the end of his contract.

Lee Bowyer revealed the midfielder was closing in on triggering the extension in his deal as it's based on matches played this season but, since Bowyer left and since the 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury back in mid-March, we've not seen Watson feature.

Could it be the case he's close to the threshold of matches and Nigel Adkins hasn't made a decision on him yet for next season? Perhaps we're looking into it too deeply but that could well be what is going on and, if that is the case, there's obviously a chance he moves on in the summer window - we'll soon get a better idea if he doesn't feature any more this campaign.
