Bradford City aren’t done yet in the race for the play-offs in League Two, sitting four points shy of the top-seven with a handful of fixtures left to play in 2020/21.

The issue for the Bantams is that League Two happens to be competitive division it always seems to be, with a number of sides in contention for a play-off berth.

Only 10 points separate Morecambe in fourth and Crawley Town in 13th, with Bradford in and amongst that group of teams that have a faint chance of qualifying for the top-seven.

Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars might not deliver play-off football, but they can be proud of the work they’ve done with the squad at Valley Parade.

However, the management duo cannot afford to sit still and, in the summer, it’s important that the squad evolves to compete higher in the table.

Arrivals will be on the agenda, but so too will departures.

With that in mind, we have a look at EIGHT players that face uncertainty heading into the summer…

Huffer was signed from Bradford Park Avenue back in the January transfer window, with the goalkeeper arriving to add depth to the squad at Valley Parade.

The 22-year-old has limited senior experience, with one of only four senior appearances actually coming for Leeds United in the Championship under Marcelo Bielsa.

Huffer has also played for Barnet on loan, but has failed to make an appearance for the senior side at Bradford.

He was on the bench a handful of times after signing, but now faces an uncertain future heading into 2021/22.

Given his lack of involvement, he might not be someone Bradford don’t carry into the new season.

O’Connor is a lot different to Huffer in the sense that he’s at the thick of things for Bradford at the moment.

He’s made 43 appearances for the club this season, scoring three times, including the recent winner over Grimsby in a 1-0 win.

The 28-year-old is out of contract in the summer, though, which puts him in a difficult position ahead of 2021/22.

O’Connor has told the Yorkshire Post last month that he wants to stay at Bradford beyond his current agreement with the club, but whether that feeling is mutual remains to be seen.

All eyes, then, will be on whether Bradford retain O’Connor.

Hosannah has been on loan with Bradford from Leeds United this season, but injuries have plagued the 22-year-old and his season is over.

There’s a chance that Hosannah could return to Bradford, with the club’s joint managers previously leaving the door open to working with the defender once more.

However, he will be heading back to Leeds to begin with and that creates uncertainty on its own for Hosannah and Bradford.

The decision on the player’s future will be Leeds’, and whilst Bradford and Hosannah will have a say, it will come down to the Premier League side’s staff to decide where the 22-year-old plays next season.

Scales is a really young member of the current Bradford squad, with the 18-year-old unfortunately facing a little bit of uncertainty at Valley Parade.

This season, Scales has made 21 appearances for the Bantams, including an hour in the club’s last fixture, which was a 2-0 defeat to Crawley Town at Valley Parade.

However, the teenager is out of contract in the summer transfer window and there’s no agreement on the table yet to keep Scales at Valley Parade.

Given Trueman and Sellars appear to have a lot of trust in Scales, they might want to keep him.

At the same time, though, there’s uncertainty there.

We move back to another loan player from Leeds.

Stevens has had a tough time of it since arriving at Bradford, with the 21-year-old managing no goal involvements in his 14 League Two appearances for the Bantams.

It has really been a bit of a struggle for the young winger since signing for Bradford and what happens with him in the summer is going to be interesting.

A player like Hosannah might well return for a second loan spell, but the way Stevens’ season has shaped, you’d be more surprised if Trueman and Sellars moved to bring him back in from Leeds.

An opportunity elsewhere might be on the cards.

Donaldson is Bradford-born and has been playing for his boyhood club over the last couple of seasons in League Two.

In 30 League Two appearances this season, Donaldson has scored three times and registered three assists, proving to be a really important player.

However, like a lot of those before him on this list, he’s out of contract in the summer and, at the age of 37, is in a position where Bradford might be looking to go in a different direction with regard to their striking options.

Younger, with more potential, might be the order of the day and whilst Donaldson has been a great player, he doesn’t offer either of those traits, which might bring his Bradford career to an end this summer.

Clarke has had three spells with Bradford over his career and has been a player that’s featured regularly in 2020/21.

In 29 appearances across all competitions this season, Clarke has scored four goals, although only two of those have come in League Two.

The 33-year-old is out of contract in the summer and it’s going to be interesting to see whether or not there’s a future for him at Bradford.

Like Donaldson, age isn’t on his side and Trueman and Sellars might want to take Bradford’s striking options in a slightly different direction.

Clarke might well be offloaded in the summer to pave the way for a new striker.

Pritchard is another player that’s out of contract at Valley Parade this summer, despite the fact that he’s been another player to make over 20 appearances this season for the Bantams.

However, in the case of the 28-year-old, he’s not featured since February under Trueman and Sellars and, with his contract running down, it doesn’t particularly paint a good picture.

There could well be a fresh challenge presenting itself to the midfielder, with Bradford allowing him to leave on a free transfer ahead of 2021/22.

At 27, Pritchard shouldn’t be short on offers to play his football elsewhere.

That might well tempt Bradford into keeping him, but as things stand, you feel he might be on the released list as opposed to the retained.
