Birmingham City have enjoyed a brilliant start under Lee Bowyer, with the new boss collecting ten points from his first five games in charge.

Whilst that isn't enough to guarantee safety just yet, it means Blues have taken some major steps to ensuring they will be playing in the Championship again next season, which was the remit for for the former player.

Such a start will also excite fans about what the future can bring under Bowyer's guidance, so a big summer could be on the cards at St. Andrew's.

For the support, it will be all about who comes through the door, as it's clear more quality is needed for Blues to compete at the other end of the table.

Yet, realistically, departures will be required to balance up the squad, and potentially the books. With that in mind, we look at EIGHT players who may move on in the summer...

The defender has come through the ranks at Birmingham, but it appears as though he is going to have to move on for the sake of his career.

Quite simply, Dacres-Cogley just isn't going to get the game time he needs under Bowyer, and with his contract expiring in the summer, it seems highly unlikely that an new deal will be offered to him, with an exit inevitable.

Realistically, he will end up at a lower league club, and fans will wish the 25-year-old well when he takes the next step. His time at Blues will have ended with 27 appearances for the club.

The left-back has come back into the fold under Bowyer, so this is a move that may divide opinion.

However, Seddon may want to force a move through himself.

The 23-year-old has been out on loan in recent seasons, proving that he wants to play each week, so if he is offered a chance to be the main man elsewhere, it could be one he takes.

With his deal set to run out in 2022, any buying club knows that Seddon won't cost a massive fee, so it's something to monitor in the window as Blues are likely to offer him a new deal or move him on.

There's no way that Bowyer would want to lose the Danish international from a football perspective, but it may give him the funds to strengthen the rest of the squad.

We all know that Blues won't be able to splash the cash, so if it is a case of 'sell to buy' then Pedersen could go.

He would be one of the most sellable assets at the club and with George Friend, or even Seddon, in Pedersen's position, it's a move that could happen to bring money in.

There was a lot of excitement when Blues secured a deal for the Spanish international, and you could understand why given his pedigree.

But, it hasn't really worked out for San Jose in English football, as he has struggled to make an impact, whilst he has barely featured under Bowyer. You can't imagine that he will be willing to stick around for a season when he isn't playing every week, so a move would appear to suit all parties.

It will be a shame for all concerned that it didn't work out for San Jose, but these things happen in football.

The defensive midfielder was another who arrived in the summer, and he was another that would've been pushed by Aitor Karanka.

The Spaniard had worked with Clayton at Middlesbrough and he would've hoped the player would become an influential figure on the pitch and in the dressing room. Again, it hasn't happened though, as the ex-Leeds man struggled to make his mark in the XI.

Like San Jose, you can't imagine Clayton will want to stick around if he's not involved, although he may prove harder to shift as he enters the final year of his contract.

Bowyer has a big decision to make on the Croatian international in the coming weeks, as Halilovic's contract is set to expire.

The attacking midfielder has featured regularly since the new boss came in, and he has shown flashes of his undoubted talent. However, that doesn't mean that he will stick around.

There are a lot of factors to consider, including whether Halilovic wants to stay for another year in England. So, it would be tough to say whether Halilovic will be a Blues player next season, and the next five games could be pivotal for the player.

Toral is yet another player who is out of contract in the summer, although it should be noted that Birmingham have the option to extend his stay by another 12 months if they want.

The attacking midfielder has endured a hugely frustrating campaign as he hasn't been able to stay fit for long enough. With just two substitute appearances under Bowyer before his latest injury, he may not have enough time to impress Bowyer as he looks to make decisions ahead of pre-season.

Blues may extend his deal purely to move him on in the summer in order to pick up a fee.

This may be one that surprises Blues fans but Lukas Jutkiewicz has been integral since Bowyer took over, and he has extended his stay with the club until 2024.

Realistically, the two target men can't play together and that will not please Cosgrove.

So, if a club came in and gave Blues the chance to recoup the money they spent in January, Bowyer might see it as a good deal if he can reinvest to bring in players to improve the XI.

Of course, this would be a surprise, but he is another that wasn't signed by Bowyer and the new boss will want to make his mark on the team in the summer and he may want a different type of striker to come in because he already has Jutkiewicz.
