It has been a tricky 2021 for Aberdeen as Stephen Glass looks to keep his side in the Europa League qualification places in the SPFL table.

The club sit fourth in the SPFL standings and eight points clear of Livingston, who occupy fifth spot.

But Aberdeen's form of late has been a bit of a worry. They have won only three league games in 2021, but did return to winning ways against St Johnstone at the weekend.

In fairness to Aberdeen, the club have lost some pretty important players over the course of the season.

Scott McKenna and Sam Cosgrove both moved to the English Championship with Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City respectively.

The funds they received from the two players' sales could be used this summer, though, as the manager looks to strengthen his squad.

Here, we take a look at eight players who Aberdeen could sell or release ahead of a busy summer window...

McGinn has been an excellent servant to Aberdeen over the years, scoring 86 goals in 340 games for the club.

The Northern Ireland international has made 20 SPFL appearances this season, though, and is out of contract in the summer.

Woods is another player who is set to be out of contract in the summer.

He hasn't made a single appearance in the SPFL this term.

Taylor has been a regular for Aberdeen this season, making 31 appearances in the SPFL.

But the defender's contract is up in the summer, and it will be interesting to see whether he attracts interest from elsewhere or not.

Hoban has been a regular member of the backline alongside Taylor.

He has made 32 league appearances this campaign, and his contract is up at the end of May.

Leigh has been limited to only eight appearances in the SPFL this term, having spent most of the season injured.

His injury record is an issue and that could affect the club's decision to offer him a new deal this summer.

McLennan has been a regular on the wing for Aberdeen this season.

He's made 23 appearances in the SPFL, failing to score and chipping in with one assist.

He is also out of contract in the summer.

Ross has made only one SPFL appearance this season, coming on for the final five minutes against St Mirren.

He is out of contract in May.

Hendry has been shy in front of goal this season, scoring four goals in 31 games across all competitions.

With his loan deal from St Johnstone coming to an end, he could move on.
