West Brom have had a bit of an up and down season this year.

The club started the season under the management of Valerien Ismael although he was dismissed in February due to a poor run of results.

Steve Bruce came in as his replacement and things didn't get off to the best start as the club dropped further down the league.

However, the season didn't finish on a bad note and the Baggies ended up sitting 10th in the league by the end of the season.

That being said, considering they had their eyes on the play-offs this will have been a disappointing end to the campaign.

Although Bruce will be looking towards the new season with hope and looking to build his own team over the summer to allow them to compete further up the table and push for promotion.

However, as we await the new season, we've decided to take a look back at eight of West Brom's most underwhelming signings and see where they are.

Sebastian Blanco signed for the Baggies ahead of the 2014-15 season but did not manage to create an impact.

The midfielder made just three appearances for the club before he was sent out on loan to San Lorenzo where his move was then made permanent.

The 34-year-old has been with Portland Timbers since 2017 and has gone on to make 139 MLS appearances scoring 34 goals too.

He remains under contract so will be hoping to continue his good form next season.

Rosenborg signed for the club in 2012 on a free transfer.

However, in 28 Premier League appearances for the Baggies, he failed to score a single goal.

As a result, his contract was terminated by mutual consent in 2014.

He then moved to Malmo FF and ended up spending the rest of his career there. The striker clearly found his form again as he scored 67 league goals in 156 appearances.

After retiring in 2019, the now 39-year-old has become a football agent.

Diego Lugano joined the Baggies in 2013 when the side were in the Premier League but made just nine appearances for the side in the season.

Despite scoring one goal during his time with the club, his performances were not up to scratch so he left after his one and only season was over.

The centre-back went to play abroad but never made many appearances and he has now been retired since 2017 after two seasons with Sao Paulo.

West Brom was the first time Pocognoli made the move to England to paly football but had been playing regularly before his transfer.

However, he made just 16 league appearances in total for the Baggies across three seasons and in his final season had a loan spell with Brighton where he was able to play 20 times and score a goal.

Despite doing better on the South Coast, he retired after this season and now works as the coach of Belgian club Union SG's U21 side.

Samaras joined West Brom after an impressive seven seasons with Celtic so he came to the Hawthorns with decent expectations.

However, he made just five appearances for the Baggies in the top flight and due to his lack of impact, he was loaned to Al-Hilal before leaving the club permanently in 2016.

He finished his career with Samsunspor but retired in 2018.

However, he is still within football and now works as the vice-president of OFI Crete.

Chris Baird joined West Brom with plenty of experience at the top end of English football having played for Southampton and Fulham.

Prior to his move to the Hawthorns, he had lacked game time with Reading and Burnley in the Championship but took the move back up to the top flight.

However, he made just 19 appearances for the club and failed to make an impact at the club.

The player had two more tries in the Championship but couldn't get much game time and was released by Derby at the end of the 2017-18 season.

He then went on to retire in 2019.

Branislav Ivanovic joined West Brom in 2020 with plenty of experience to his name.

The defender had spent ten seasons with Chelsea in the Premier League and made over 250 appearances for the side.

After leaving Chelsea, he moved to Zenit Saint Petersburg and played regularly for them too.

However, he made just 13 Premier League appearances for Albion before they chose not to use him again.

The 38-year-old left the club in 2021 and although he has not announced his retirement, he does not currently have a club.

Kenneth Zohore is the only current Baggies player on the list.

According to Transfermarkt, Albion paid over £8million for the striker although only three goals in his 17 performances in his first season with the club did not live up to that price tag.

Last season the player was loaned out to Millwall where he made 17 appearances again and scored two goals.

This season he was back at the Hawthorns but has made just two league appearances.

The 28-year-old has another year on his contract so whether he will be present at the club next year or loaned out again is yet to be seen.
