Over the years, Cardiff City have opted to sign a plethora of players in an attempt to achieve a relative amount of success in the Football League.

During the current transfer window, the Bluebirds have made a brisk start to their business.

As well as waving goodbye to the likes of Aden Flint, Alex Smithies and Marlon Pack, Cardiff have secured the services of some fresh faces.

Mahlon Romeo, Ebou Adams, Vontae Daley-Campbell, Jak Alnwick, Ryan Allsop, Ollie Tanner, Jamilu Collins and Callum O'Dowda are all set to line up for the Bluebirds in the Championship next season after sealing moves to the Cardiff City Stadium.

Whereas these individuals will all be determined to deliver the goods later this year, there have been plenty of instances where players have unfortunately failed to live up to expectations at Cardiff.

Here, we have decided to take a look at where eight of the club's most underwhelming signings are playing now...

When Cardiff forked out a fee believed to be in the region of £10.22m for Bobby Decordova-Reid in 2018, they would have been hoping to see the forward find the back of the net on a regular basis.

However, Decordova-Reid only managed to score an underwhelming total of five goals for the club in 30 appearances.

The 29-year-old now plays for Fulham and will be keen to feature regularly for Marco Silva's side in the Premier League next season following their promotion to this division.

Robert Glatzel joined the Bluebirds in 2019 for a reported fee of £5.4m following a spell at 1.FC Heidenheim.

The forward ultimately failed to deliver the goods on a consistent basis during his time with the Welsh outfit as he only managed to find the back of the net on 11 occasions in 57 appearances.

Glatzel left Cardiff last year as he joined Hamburg on a permanent deal.

The forward produced some impressive performances for the German side last season as he scored 27 goals in all competitions.

Andreas Cornelius joined Cardiff for a fee believed to be in the region of £7.83m in 2013.

The forward endured a miserable spell with the Bluebirds as he failed to score a single goal for the club in the 11 games that he featured in.

Following spells at Atalanta and Parma, Cornelius joined Trabzonspor last year.

During the previous term, the 29-year-old helped the club win the Super Lig title by netting 15 league goals.

Oumar Niasse sealed a loan move to Cardiff from Everton in January 2019.

With the Bluebirds looking to retain a place in the Premier League, they would have been hoping that Niasse would be able to provide some firepower at this level.

However, the forward failed to find the back of the net in this division despite making 13 appearances for the club.

Niasse featured for Burton Albion last season and is set to become a free-agent at the end of June after the League One side opted against offering him fresh terms.

Omar Bogle joined the Bluebirds in 2017 from Wigan Athletic for a reported fee of £693k.

The forward struggled to cope with the competitiveness of the Championship as he only scored four goals in this division for Cardiff before moving on to pastures new.

Having started the previous campaign at Doncaster Rovers, Bogle sealed a switch to Hartlepool United in January.

The 28-year-old went on to find the back of the net on five occasions for his new side in League Two.

Lex Immers would have been hoping to produce a host of impressive displays for Cardiff during his time at the club.

However, the attacking midfielder only managed to show glimpses of his ability as he scored five goals in 28 appearances for the Bluebirds.

After leaving the club on a free transfer, Immers had spells at Club Brugge, ADO Den Haag and NAC Breda before sealing a move to Scheveningen.

In the previous term, the 36-year-old provided eight direct goal contributions for the Dutch outfit in all competitions.

Idrss Saadi was signed by Cardiff in 2015 from French side Clermont Foot.

The forward struggled to make an impact for the Bluebirds as he only made two appearances for the Championship side during his time at the club.

Saadi joined SC Bastia last year and went on to score five goals in 28 games for the club.

The Ligue 2 outfit have opted against offering him fresh terms and thus he is set to become a free-agent when his contract expires at the end of June.

Adam Le Fondre joined the Bluebirds for a fee believed to be in the region of £2.79m in 2014 following a spell at Reading.

The forward ultimately failed to live to expectations during this particular stint as he only managed to score three goals in 25 appearances.

Le Fondre currently plays for Australian side Sydney FC.

During the previous campaign, the 35-year-old produced some promising performances.

As well as finding the back of the net on 10 occasions for Sydney FC, Le Fondre also provided three assists for his team-mates.
